 | APBA Gold Cup Henderson Park and Memorial Annex Park, Detroit, MI July 11th through July 13th, 2008 This mid-summer event showcases powerboat-racing on the Detroit river. Both antique and racing boats participate in this event. Qualifying events are held throughout Friday and Saturday morning, whereas the races follow in the afternoon and the next day. To watch the event free go to the Belle Isle beach or else book seats at Memorial Annex Park or Chrysler/ Henderson Park. |
 | Woodward Dream Cruise Woodward Ave, Ferndale, MI 48220 August 16, 2008 Over 150,000 professional and amateur car lovers have a great time at this annual event. There are 30,000 customized, collectors', muscle and street cars participating in this 16 mile Dream Cruise heading from Ferndale to Pontiac. Along the course, the Royal Oak, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Birmingham and Berkley communities entertain with street parties, live music and food. |
 | Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon (starting line)Washington Blvd at Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48826 October 19, 2008 The novelty of this marathon is that participants cross the US/Canadian border twice along the course and are treated to some fantastic live music. The registered runners receive a goodies bag and complimentary refreshments. They can also avail discounts at local businesses. |
