    Getting A Greece Visa

    Overview

Situated in south-east Europe, Greece is a small country in with thousands of islands spread out in the Aegean and Ionian seas. Greece flourished in the ancient times, over 2000 years ago, and is commonly called the cradle of Western civilization. The capital of Greece is Athens, which still retains ancient landmarks, such as the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Plays written by Greek dramatists are still performed today. Greek sculptures, statues, buildings made in those ancient times are still looked upon with awe today. And Greece is also the country where modern democracy and modern sciences were born. Greece is now officially a part of the Schengen zone, which is an area consisting of 26 European countries that have abolished passports and all other border controls between them. The Schengen zone mostly functions as a single jurisdiction for international travel purposes and has a common visa policy.

Greece Schengen Visa Types and Validity

The Greece Schengen visa allows free movement to the visa holder within the Schengen area during its validity. You are eligible to apply for a Greece Schengen visa if you are a citizen of a non-European country. As per the type of visa issued, there are different restrictions that apply to the different visas in accordance with the nature of travel and other circumstances. The main types of Greece visas are:

    Uniform Schengen Visas (USV)

The Uniform Schengen Visa is a permit of one of the Schengen Area Member Countries to transit or resides in the desired country for a certain period of time, up to the maximum of 90 days every six months. According to the purpose of travel, the Uniform Schengen Visas are of ‘A' or ‘C’ types. The ‘A' type is Airport Transit Visa which allows its holder to travel in the international zone of the Schengen airport without entering the Schengen Area. This visa is mandatory for people travelling from one non-Schengen state to another non-Schengen state via a change of flights in a Schengen country airport.

The ‘C’ category visa stands for a short-term visa which allows the holder to stay in a Schengen Zone for a fixed period of time as per the validity of the visa. This visa can be obtained as a single-entry visa, double-entry visa or a multiple-entry visa.

    Single-entry visa

On a single-entry visa, you can enter the Schengen Area only once, within the stipulated period of time mentioned in the visa. Once you exit the Schengen territory, you cannot go back, even if you have not spent the full number of days as permitted by the embassy that issued the visa.

    Double-entry visa

By and large, a double-entry visa works in the same way as a single-entry visa. The only difference between a single-entry and a double-entry visa is that the latter gives you the chance to go back once more to the Schengen territory once you have exited it. However, you cannot enter the Schengen Zone again after you have exited it a second time, even if you have not completed your full permitted duration of stay.

    Multiple-entry visa

A multiple-entry visa allows you to enter and exit the Schengen zone as many times as you want, as long as you do not violate the 90/180-day rule. Depending on your requirement you can apply and obtain a 1-year, 3-year or 5-year multiple-entry visa.

National Visas or ‘D' category visa

Then there is the national visa or ‘D’ category visa which is given for study, work or permanent residency in one of the Schengen Zone countries. This visa can be of a single- or multiple-entry given to people who are going to reside in the Schengen country for a fixed duration for a specific purpose after which they will return to their country.

Greece Schengen Visa Types as per travel purpose

When you apply for a Greece Schengen visa, you will have to specify the purpose of your travel, according to which the appropriate visa will be issued. Your travel can be for any of the following:

Airport Transit Visa: This visa is issued to people who have to travel through the international zone of a Schengen Zone Airport without entering the specific Schengen country.

Transit visa: The transit visa is similar to the Airport transit visa. It is meant for foreign seafarers, who need to halt for a short duration by the seaport in a Schengen zone country.

Tourist visa: This is one of the most popular Greece Schengen visa types, as there are many tourists who arrive to see the historical sites in the country.

Visit Family or Friends: If you have family members or friends who are legal residents of Greece can apply for this visa if you wish to visit them.

Business visa: If you wish to visit Greece for business, you can apply for this visa, and you will get priority over other visa applicants, even during peak season.

Official trip: You will have to apply for this type of visa if you are going to travel to Greece on official duty, even if you are accompanying a big delegation on the same dates and for the same purpose.

Medical purpose: If you wish to visit Greece for medical treatment, you need to select this option in your visa application. This visa is issued for a period of three months.

Study visa: Students to wish to undertake a study course, such as a language course or to appear for an exam, need to apply for this type of visa.

Any other purpose: If your purpose of visit to Greece is something else other than the ones stated above, you will have to check the “other” category in your visa application form. However, you may have to give a written explanation about the purpose of your visit.

    Overview

Estonia - a country in Northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland with more than 1,500 islands, diverse terrain spanning rocky beaches, old & vast forest and many lakes.

Currently, Estonia is ranked 38th in the world by nominal GDP per capita (19,840 US$). In earlier days, being a part of the Soviet Union, it is pin-pricked with amazing castles, churches and hilltop fortresses. The capital city, Tallinn is known for its preserved Old Town, museums and the 314m-high Tallinn TV Tower, with an observation deck.

Estonian is visited by around 4 million tourists every year. They visit shops and service outlets while some tourists who have plenty of time in hand they often visit the theatre and other places outside Tallinn. A number of tourists from Sweden and Germany are growing daily. The Capital city is also an important cruise destination at the Baltic Sea after the places like Copenhagen, Stockholm and St Petersburg for travellers from around the globe.

    Why is Estonian visa Needed?

This directive shall apply to an EU/EEA/EFTA national, who moves to or resides in a member state other than that of which he/she is a national.

There are many reasons for which Visa D can be issued such as seasonal worker, short term worker, researcher, volunteer, guest researcher, and student among others.

Transit Visa:Compared to the two other visas mentioned above, a transit visa is very different. While a transit visa may allow you to enter a country, you are only allowed to do so for a short time. It means that it is only issued for a few days at maximum. How to apply for a permanent work visa in Canada?

You can get a permanent work visa through approval of criteria of any of the 4 types of immigration programs:

    • Federal skilled worker program
    • Federal skilled trades program
    • Canadian experience class
    • Provincial nominee program

According to the new rules established in 2015, you can immigrate to Canada for work through the express entry system. While the earlier system followed a first-come-first-serve basis, the new system relies on multiple factors that determine the eligibility of the candidate for the citizenship. The express entry system helps people immigrate to Canada by reducing processing time to 6 months or even less in some scenarios.

For applying through express entry system, an individual must create an express entry profile at the online portal which requires an input of details like work experience, language proficiency, educational qualification, major skills, etc. if you have not received a job approval beforehand, you can apply for one at Job by registering at the Job Bank.

After you enter your details, you are ranked based on factors like work experience, language test scores, educational qualification and skills that are determinants of a successful future in Canada. After you have submitted your profile, you are among the pool of candidates that are in consideration for Invitation to Apply (ITA). This process can be accelerated if you have a job offer from a Canadian firm, a nomination from a Canadian province, or are high ranking in areas of skill. This profile is valid for 1 year and can be edited whenever you add something that contributes to the profile.

    Canada visa eligibility

Visa categories like tourist visas, student permits, and temporary work permits do not have an extensive eligibility criterion and merely require a required level of funds, clean record, good health, and a letter of acknowledgement in case of student and work permits. However, for immigration to Canada, there are different eligibility criteria for different programs.

Eligibility for federal skilled worker program:

    • Required level of language ability (test scores)
    • Skilled work experience
    • Educational qualification

Following these criteria, candidates are approved basis:

    • Age
    • Work experience
    • A job offer from a Canadian firm
    • Adaptability

If you score 67 points or above on a 100-point scale which considers these points, you have a high chance of approval for this visa

Eligibility for federal skilled trades program:

    • Proficiency in language ability considering areas of listening, reading, speaking, writing in either English/French
    • Work experience in either industrial trades, maintenance, technical job handling natural resources, manufacturing operations, cooking, butchering or baking.

After you submit your profile, it depends on which province in Canada has what sort of demand considering different skill trades.

The online portal for Canadian visa services allows you to create an account for conducting the entire visa procedure online. Through the profile created for visa submission, you can check the status of your visa and also get an insight regarding the processing time for each type of visa.

    Types of visas for Canada

    Basic types of Canada visa

If you are just visiting Canada temporarily, these are the visas that are available for you-

Visitor visa: This type of visa is mainly for travellers who are willing to take a trip or visit their friends and family in Canada. According to the conditions prescribed by this type of visa, you can stay in Canada for 6 months. Also, you are granted a visit under the pretence that you are in a good financial condition and you are not in Canada to work or study.

Student visa: This type of visa is similar to a visitor visa, with the additional features of a student permit which allow the student to stay till the end of the course period. However, it is required that you are enrolled in a designated learning institute within Canada.

Temporary work visa: For individuals who have received an opportunity to work in Canada, the government offers to provide a temporary work visa, which is similar to a temporary resident visa with the additional features of a work permit.

If you are willing to live in Canada permanently, these are the eligible visa options for you-

Federal skilled trade/worker program: Both of these programs are for different types of work but allow permanent residency. While the skilled trades program requires you to be proficient in a skilled trade among the list of skills listed, the skilled worker program is provided for people in service of occupations that are in demand in Canada.

Canadian experience class: This visa is provided to people who are on a temporary visa on a study/work permit and have settled within Canada on account of job opportunities.

    Canada visa fees

Every country requires visitors and immigrants to pay a certain amount for a visa, and while you might think about it as an entrance fee, it is much more than that. It is required to update records, perform background checks and produce security features on the visa labels to prevent fraud and illegal immigration.

It is very important to keep track of people going in and out of the country keeping in mind the concerns of security. On the other hand, some countries charge for visas based on reciprocity i.e. if the USA charges a high amount for visa procedures to French citizens, France would also accordingly charge a high amount to visitors from the USA. Furthermore, some countries also require biometric identity creation prior to entry, for which the visitors have to incur a certain amount. The amount you end up paying for a visa depends on all of these factors.

It is critical to know about these charges before planning your trip so you can plan your traveling budget accordingly. Whether you are planning to go to Canada for business or pleasure, here’s a quick guide to the types of visas that Canada offers and the charges for the related procedures:

    Procuring an Austrian Visa

    Overview

Austria is home to scenic mountains and natural beauty. The country may not have any beaches, but it is the perfect place to visit for tranquillity. It is not just an excellent tourist destination but also a perfect place to visit for business. Austria is ranked among the wealthiest countries in the world based on its GDP per capita.

    Why is Austrian Visa Needed?

Indian citizens require a visa to visit the nation of Austria. The reasons for visiting Austria range from tourism to business, and even studies.

    Austria Visa Eligibility

The eligibility requirements for an Austrian visa are dependent on the purpose, nature and duration of your visit. There are primarily two types of visa:

Schengen Visa C: This type of visa allows you a stay of 90 days in a six-month duration. Since this type of visa is issued for Schengen, it allows you to visit and stay in other Schengen states including Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Latvia, Slovakia, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Finland, Norway, Czech Republic, Malta, Lithuania, Switzerland, Estonia, Luxemburg, and Poland. Additionally, no restrictions are placed on the number of times you can visit or enter any of the above mentioned Schengen states. Therefore, the Schengen Visa C is issued not just for a single entry but also for double and multiple entries.

National Visa D: This type of visa allows you a stay of 91 days to 180 days in six-month duration. Visa D can be issued for many reasons including but not limited to Seasonal worker, researcher, guest researcher, short term worker, volunteer and student among others.

Transit Visa: A transit visa is different compared to the two types of visas mentioned above. One of the prime elements of a transit visa is that it is not issued for a long duration. Commonly, it is only issued for a few days at maximum. The reason that transit visas are issued is to facilitate the travel of passengers. For example, if you have a connecting flight from one of the airports in the Schengen area but your next flight is after a few hours or a couple of days, then you apply for the transit visa.
The other eligibility requirements are common for both types of visa. The only difference between the two types of visa pertains to the requirement of documents based on the purpose and nature of the visit. The following could be the reasons for travelling to or visiting Austria:

    Tourism

One of the most common reasons for visiting Austria is tourism. The serenity of the natural scenery of the nation is famous throughout the world, and people from all over the world visit the nation for some much-needed tranquillity.

    Visiting Friends or Family

This type of visa is for Individuals who have family members or friends legally dwelling or citizens of Austria or the Schengen region. However, the visitors would need a referral letter from the friend or family member staying in Austria. Furthermore, they will need to present the same at the time of the visa application process.

    Business

This type of visa is for individuals who need to travel to Austria for the purpose of business. It also includes people who have been employed by companies and organisations operating in Austria or the government. Such visas are issued for individuals who intend to travel to Austria for medical purposes and enjoy the benefits of the medical services in the nation.

    Medical reasons

Such visas are issued for individuals that intend to travel to Austria for medical purposes and enjoy the benefits of the medical services in the nation.

    Study Purposes

This type of visa is only for individuals who intend to enrol or are already enrolled in any of the educational institutions of the nation.

    Cultural, Sports and Film Crews

This type of visa is issued to individuals who are not citizens of any of the nations in the Schengen region but wish to travel to the nation to attend or participate in activities related to culture, sports or religion.

    Other Purposes

If the purpose and nature of your visit are not covered under any of the categories mentioned above, then you need not worry. All you need to do while applying for the visa is to ensure that you mention the reasons during your application process.
