September 15 onwards, renewing your driving license will become a lot convenient. The Tardeo RTO has implemented a new system wherein the license holder can book an online appointment for any work pertaining to a driving license. Other RTOs including Wadala, Andheri and Borivali are scheduled to follow suit with a similar online system.
Currently, only the applications for learner or permanent driving license can be obtained online. With the introduction of this new procedure, existing license holders can get their driving licenses renewed, apply for change of address and obtain a duplicate driving license without hassle.
Govind Saindane, the Tardeo RTO Boss said, "You will just have to go to our new version of Saarthi software and register to get a license renewed." Online forms will be made available that can be printed for submissions at the RTO. This method saves time and eliminates the dependency on middlemen.
A single window system is already introduced at some RTOs, which includes a helpdesk with officers and clerks who provide assistance regarding forms needed for submissions. To make the RTO citizen-friendly and to help those who may not be comfortable with the online procedure these forms will also be dispensed to civilians without any cost.
