Explore a new country with an exciting festival this fall

Fall is not a season well-experienced in India, but that should not let you miss out on this beautiful season. The following countries around the globe offer the best fall experiences with unique and exciting festivals.

Germany

If you love beer and want to experience the world’s biggest folk festival, make your way to Munich, Germany, this fall. Oktoberfest is an annual festival held in a meadow with huge tents and colourful parades, attracting six million visitors a year, who chug down seven million litres of beer. The beer is soaked up with giant pretzels, grilled chicken and sausages.

Expect to see crowds of joyful people dressed in traditional Bavarian clothes, dancing, drinking, and feasting. This year, the Oktoberfest is going to be held from 22nd September to 7th October. That's two weeks of merry-making in its purest form!

Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark, is the place you must head to with your family if you want your children to experience fall in all its glory. The entire country is painted in hues of orange and red. The weather is windy and dry with crisp days and star-filled nights.

Fall also means harvest season and the Danish take their harvest very seriously. Freshly harvested fruits and vegetables like apples, plums, pears, potatoes, and cabbage will taste like never before and apple picking is a fun activity to indulge in.

You can plan your trip to coincide with Kulturnatten, the cultural night event that will be held on 12th October this year. It features a night full of Copenhagen's culture where all galleries, churches, museums and local business open their doors to offer cultural activities for free.

United States

Have you ever wanted to experience the barter system? Or are against the rampant consumerism? Do you believe yourself to be an artistic, expressive soul? If you answered yes, to any or all the above questions, then Burning Man in Nevada, US, is the festival you must experience this fall.

Burning Man, held annually in the Black Rock desert, is a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance, where everyone is welcome. It’s a week-long community experiment that forbids all commercial activity, induces civic responsibility and aims to leave no trace at the end - there are trashcans, everyone has to take back everything with them.

This year, the festival is held from 25th August to 3rd September.

Mexico

For a unique cultural experience, visit Mexico this fall during their celebration of the Day of the Dead. It's a two-day celebration, where families go to the graveyard to spend time and remember the memories of their loved ones. It's not really mourning, it's more like a party.

Ancient traditions, great food and celebrating life and the deceased is what you should expect. As long as you are respectful, the locals will welcome you. The Day of the Dead is celebrated on 1st and 2nd November.

Can't wait to experience a whole different country this fall season? Before you begin with your exciting fall travel adventures, make sure to get travel insurance. It will take care of unpleasant travel situations that are encountered by many travellers like loss of baggage and missed flight connections, so that you may enjoy a smooth and safe trip.
