How Long Does it Take to Obtain a Learners License in India?
You are issued a learner license when you are at a learning stage of driving or riding. The learner license is issued to the applicant on the same day.
A driving license is a legal document given by the Indian government to all those individuals who have qualified for the driving test to obtain the same. Driving without an authorized license is a punishable offence under the Motor Vehicle Act, of 1988.
You have to apply at your nearest Regional Transport Authority or Office (RTA/RTO). Once you have passed the eligibility test to drive then you become eligible for obtaining a permanent driving license.
All individuals who are 18 years or above are eligible to obtain a permanent driving license. You can apply for the same within 30 days after you have obtained a learner's license and it is valid for six months only.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be 16 years of age to apply for a learner's license.
- As a learner, you can drive vehicles that are non-gear with an engine capacity of 50CC.
- You must get your parent or guardian’s consent.
- As a learner, you must drive under supervision.
