Many luxurious and budget-friendly cars are due to be launched in India this year

2019 can very well be the flagship year for the automobile industry in India. Just like the previous year, this year also promises an impressive line-up of cars to be launched, both in the mass market as well as the premium category of vehicles. Some of the best automobile brands in the budget segment like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, and Nissan along with the premium players such as Audi, Mercedes, BMW, and Range Rover have already showcased some of their upcoming vehicles at the Auto Expo of 2018.

Let’s look at some of the top cars that are due to hit the Indian markets this year:

  1. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

  2. One of the country’s favourite budget family car is ready for a re-launch in 2019 with a facelift and a more powerful engine, as well as innovative features in-line with developing automobile technology. It will not only restore its upright tall-boy design but will also get a new platform, sharper and funkier looks along with interiors that can give other cars in the segment a run for their money.

As per the information revealed by the company ahead of the launch on January 23rd, the new Wagon R will come with a 1.2 litre four-cylinder engine that can impart a maximum power of 83PS to the vehicle. The lower variants of the car will retain its former 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that makes up to 68PS of maximum power. It will come in both manual and automatic transmission gearboxes.

Apart from the powerful engine, the car will be loaded with features such as a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system in the topmost variant and steering mounted controls for audio and calls. It will be based on the Suzuki’s Heartect platform and is expected to be priced more or less the same as the outgoing model.

  3. Tata Harrier

  4. Tata Motors is ready for its second innings after a long lull in the Indian market and fuelled by the huge success of recently launched Tiago and Nexon. It’s now time for more additions to the ever expanding fleet. One of the new products to be launched this year is the bold and big Tata Harrier. This SUV was showcased as the H5X concept at the Auto Expo 2018.

Exterior wise, it features the company’s 2.0 design philosophy. Built on the Omega Arc platform, it derives its design from the Land Rover D8 that also underpins the best-selling Discovery Sport. This means you will probably get a roomy interior when compared with other rivals like the Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, and Hyundai Creta.

When it comes to the features and its interiors, it packs an 8.8-inch touchscreen with Android and Apple Car Play, ESP, anti-roll stability and terrain drive modes. It will be offered with a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine to deliver 138 bhp and 350 Nm torque. The car will come mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox and is expected to be priced between Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh.

  5. Toyota Camry Hybrid

  6. One of the most well-known brands across the world, Toyota is ready to launch the facelifted version of its premium sedan – Camry, in the first half of this year. As showcased in the Auto Expo, the car will borrow a few tricks from its predecessor in terms of looks and features, while also becoming more affordable than the older version at a price tag of around Rs.30 lakh for the base model. It will be available with a hybrid powertrain to deliver better efficiency than before.

Based on the TNGA-K platform, this tenth generation sedan uses the same platform as on the Lexus ES 300H. This new platform will make it 35 mm longer, 15 mm wider, and 35 mm lower than before. Another advantage of this platform will be the 50 mm increase in the wheel-base of the car that will impart more stability and space for the rear passengers in the vehicle. Couple of more stylish features like the 8-inch smart touchscreen infotainment and 9-speaker JBL sound system will up the oomph quotient, while providing a luxurious and premium experience.

  7. Mercedes Benz V-class

  8. In the luxury category, Mercedes Benz will launch the V-class MPV in India on January 25th, 2019. It will establish Mercedes as the only premium carmaker to offer a luxury MPV in the country. This car is available in three different dimensions in the global market – 4895 mm, 5140 mm, and the 5370 mm, which ride on an extra LWB. Mechanically, it will feature a 2.0-litre engine that was seen in the E-class and will be BS VI compliant. The diesel engine will be capable of producing a maximum of 191 bhp with 400 Nm torque. We can expect the Mercedes Benz V-class to be priced at around Rs. 75 lakhs in India.

In addition to this impressive list, there are many other vehicles in both, the luxurious and budget-friendly segments ready to be rolled out of the showrooms this year. Also, with multi-year motor insurance policy in place now, you are ensured full protection of your vehicle by paying an upfront amount at the time of purchase of your car or opt for car insurance online for a seamless and hassle-free insurance purchase experience.
