Body Donation Movement Launched in Agra

Body donation has always been a serious topic in India. This is something that specialists, doctors, researchers and medical lab personnel want. Finally, an organization is promoting for a noble cause. It is promoting the donation of human bodies for educational research in Agra. The organization is a brainchild of a famous educationist Ram Avtar Sharma. It is at present networking with about 175 medical colleges across India.

Recently, Mr. Sharma had a talk with the press. He said that more than about 500 donors have already registered their names with the organizations. He also added that a website would shortly be launched to work together with and provides detailed info to prospective donors.

"We are striving hard to arrange for free retinas, livers, kidneys and other important body parts to the needy poor" said Mr. Sharma.

Mr. Sharma and retired banker Dinesh Agnihotri have already pledged their bodies to the anatomy department of S.N. Medical College recently. Mr. Sharma said that the organization is trying hard to speak to President Pratibha Patil to ask her to formally inaugurate the campaign any time next month.

Organ donation in India is a distant reality at present. It is also known to be a daunting hitch more in the minds of families and friends of contributors than the contributors themselves.

Though numerous folks have started to pledge their bodies or organs in the past few years, eventually the wishes of a tallied few are privileged by their families. Nevertheless, those who have either made a contribution or who are in need of a benefactor see a ray of hope and feel mass media can play a big role in inspiring and shaking the thoughts of people.
