Bus travel to get more relaxing in coming days!

May 21 2012

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is all set to make your tour a huge hit on roads. You can soon expect smoother rides on road. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) plans to introduce more high-end buses to the present fleet of buses.

This indicates that the bus travel will get more comfortable in future. The high-end Volvo buses are gaining huge popularity among people these days. The basic reason behind this is the comfort level they provide to travellers. According to UPSRTC officials, the Volvo bus service is quite an expensive affair but people are still willing to shell out additional money.

At present, UPSRTC has about 6,800-strong fleet of buses. This number includes the ordinary ones. The only problem is that the number of high-end Volvo buses is still very less. Earlier, the corporation had hired about 33 high-end buses. This year another 60 such buses would be added to the existing fleet. The best part is that the demand for these buses is consistently growing on in places such as Delhi-Agra, Delhi-Dehradun and Delhi-Gorakhpur. Other states are also looking forward to add these buses.

At present, the UPSRTC hasn't bought Volvo buses. It has only hired them from private operators on lease. The company pays up to ` 35 per km to the private players. UPSRTC introduced the Platinum bus service on April 27. This is a wonderful service, at par with Volvo. It is an everyday service but available only between select cities.

Hiring more number of high-end buses can definitely make the service available between a few more cities. On May 9, the Goldline bus service was introduced to deliver a faster inter-city connectivity amid important cities of the state. These buses are gaining a lot of popularity among travellers these days.

According to HS Gaba, the CGM (Operations) of UPSRTC, the service is at present getting a huge response. Most of the Goldline buses are presently running in Agra, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Etawah, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Meerut, Aligarh, Faizabad, Bareilly, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Allahabad, Lucknow, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Varanasi.
