India Swine Flu Outbreak

May 11 2012

Sad but true that the death toll across India has finally touched 21! This is alarming and a health shock for the citizens who were promised vaccinations, masks, prevention and other measures to keep swine flu at bay! Reports have proved that most of the casualties took place in Maharashtra. However, some serious studies conducted have also confirmed death cases in other states of India including Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Over 300 others have been infected with the deadly H1N1 virus.

Nothing has been confirmed about sudden outbreak of the disease. Things are still wrapped under mystery. There are numerous reasons that have been debated for the outbreak including a new strain of the virus in the country. Another reason is the ever-decreasing immunity due to indiscriminate usage of vaccines. Vacillating temperatures in metro cities is also being counted as one of the major reasons for this outbreak. However, these doubts and debates do not reveal the exact cause of the sudden H1N1 outbreak.

Unfortunately, the virus killed more than 450 Indians in the year 2009. According to health officials, there is nothing to worry about. They have been saying this and assuring people about safety for quite a while now. However, many still think that they are unable to see the things deep within. The experts have not even updated the Govt swine flu website since December 2010. No Maharasthra helpline number has been provided for support.

Pune is known to be the worst hit section. As per the conservative estimates, about 13,000 people were infected with the deadly virus. The virus is said to have killed over 1,200 people across the globe. The swine flu (H1N1) virus first emerged in Mexico in April 2009. There has been no stopping since then.
