Best bikes in the range of 100 to 180cc in India

January 30 2015

Designed to offer a fusion of performance and fuel efficiency, these bikes are high on demand today.

Here's how the motor houses have responded to the bike-lovers' requirements.

1. Yamaha FZ-S v2.0

Yamaha has recreated its popular 150cc segment motorcycle to look and feel aesthetically different. The new FZ-S v2.0 (150cc) comes with a fuel injection (FI) system and a cosmetic alteration. The 'Blue-core' technology and FI lets you start the engine in a single crank and ensures fuel efficiency. However, it is highly sensitive to bad quality fuel.

Visually, its new exhaust cap and a honeycomb mesh in the anterior lend it a premium appeal. This street animal is lighter than its predecessor is, with good suspension and stability for bends and curves.

Other Features:
• Mileage - 40-50 Kmpl
• Maximum Power - 13 bhp @ 8000 rpm
• Top speed - 109 Kmph
• Gears - 5
• Antilock Braking System - No
• Fuel capacity - 12 L

Viewpoint: A mid-range performer ideal for city roads!

2. TVS Apache RTR 180

Nothing describes this 180cc beast better than its tagline 'Scarily fast'. The aerodynamically designed tank and engine, and LED tail light flaunt aggression and style. The RTR engine facilitates quick ignition. Throttling up on highways though, may lead to slight engine vibration and leave you wishing for a sixth gear.

Other Features:
• Mileage - 40-50 Kmpl
• Maximum Power - 17.3 bhp @ 8500 rpm
• Top speed - 124 Kmph
• Gears - 5
• Antilock Braking System - Yes (which can be turned off for those who love stunts!)
• Fuel capacity - 16 L

Viewpoint: On wet roads, it's a confidence builder!

3. Suzuki GS 150R

Sleek and stylish, this bird can take you for a cruise. Though it came out early in the market, it can still compete and stay ahead of the recent launches in the 150cc segment. The engine has been designed for optimum acceleration and fuel efficiency. On the flipside, it is slightly heavy for city riding.

Other Features:
• Mileage - 40-50 Kmpl
• Maximum Power - 13.8 bhp @ 8500 rpm
• Top speed - 108Kmph
• Gears - 6
• Antilock Braking System - No
• Fuel capacity - 15 L

Viewpoint: Comfortable seat and additional gear, a great combination for a road trip!

4. Honda CB Trigger

A mobike designed to offer the rider more than its 150cc, the Trigger spells style, aggression and fuel efficiency. It has a Combined Braking System (CBS) that links front and rear brakes. The engine is highly responsive; not quite on the silent side though. Its upright seat position and standard handlebars prove ideal during heavy traffic.

Other Features:
• Mileage - 50-60 Kmpl
• Maximum Power - 14 bhp @ 8500 rpm
• Top speed - 110 Kmph
• Gears - 5
• Antilock Braking System - No
• Fuel capacity - 12 L

Viewpoint: The best pick when you have to swerve through potholed roads.
