Listed below are the motorcycles and scooters that are likely to be offered by top brands in the year 2015. Many of these two wheelers were displayed or announced during the auto expo and soon will be out conquering the streets.
Hero Moto-Corp has an interesting line up with 620cc Hero Hastur, 249cc Hero HX250R, 157cc ZIR scooter and the 124cc hybrid Hero Leap. However, the one that stands out not only in this list but across national and international brands is the Hero Splendor iSmart that offered a record 102.5 kmpl mileage while testing.
Hero's product launches this year are in direct competition with Kawasaki, Honda and Bajaj. Hatur and HX250R are targeted towards sports bike enthusiasts whereas ZIR will take on the likes of Activa. The Splendor iSmart can be a potential game changer in the mileage-oriented rural market.
Honda has already kick-started their new year with the launch of a variant of their bestselling bike, Unicorn. The stylish and fuel-efficient Honda CB Unicorn 160 and Activa 3G will be followed by 286cc Honda CB300F. It is expected to be in the price range of Rs. 2.5 lakhs and challenge Kawasaki Z250.
If you thought that Honda would lay low after catering to these two segments, you are mistaken. Their portfolio also includes 471cc CB500F and 471cc CB500X. Honda's CBR series will also witness new variants in the form of CBR300R, CBR500R and CBR650F. Overall, Honda has announced that it will offer 15 new models (including cosmetic upgrades) in this year.
Japanese giant Yamaha has been resting on its laurels due to the success of FZ, Fazer, R15 and its variants. Yamaha forayed into the scooter segment with Ray and Alpha and is predicted to continue in that field with the 114cc old school Delight and a 125cc scooter codenamed 04X.
Regarding its motorcycle segment, Yamaha will roll out R15V3.0 with cosmetic changes to its predecessor. 250cc YZF-R25, 321cc YZF-R3 and the roaring 998cc YZF-R1 are also on the cards.
Bajaj will once again depend on its most popular brand Pulsar to engage its audience. Bajaj's upcoming bikes include Pulsar 150/160NS, 180NS, 200SS and the 400SS. These bikes fall in the range of Rs. 70000 to 1,80,000 and come with enhanced body and graphics. Bajaj's cruiser bike Avenger will also see a variant in 2015.
The 250cc Apache has everyone excited and it will be in direct competition to Kawasaki and Honda CBR. TVS is also ready to launch its 250cc Draken. TVS will be launching its 125cc Victor in order to target the market dominated by Bajaj Discover 125, Honda CB Shine, and Hero Glamour.
