It's now seriously time people stopped living in a world of illusion that cancer cannot affect them. The fact remains that cancer is rising on the Indian health problem graph due to quick lifestyle variations. It is now consistently adding more than a million new cases on yearly basis.
Breast and cervix cancers are quite common among women whereas men usually suffer from a variety of cancers such as neck, throat and prostate cancer.
Mr. P.K. Julka, professor of clinical oncology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said that India has one million new cancer cases emerging on a yearly basis. He also said that these cases are consistently on the rise in India. According to the professor, lifestyle related cancers have seen shocking increase in the past ten years. He declared that it is high time that people drop their attitude of not meân™, why meân™ and how meân™ when it comes to cancer.
Mr. Julka explained the reason basic reason behind increasing cases of cancer in India. According to this veteran professor, tobacco consumption is on rise in India and this has resulted in rise of lung, neck and throat cancer. Women going for late marriage, early menarche and late menopause are known to be some of the most common causes of breast cancer. As per the statement given by Mr. Julka exposure of women to the female hormone at an early age is a major cause of increase in cases of breast cancer risk.
The professor at AIIMS reported that breast cancer has overtaken the rate of cervical cancer and has become the leading type of cancer in major cities across India including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
He also threw light on the crude fact that the number of new breast cancer cases across the country has increased to about 115,000 annually and unfortunately, this is expected to swell to 250,000 new cases per year by 2015.
