Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has been playing a significant role in providing highest level of technical expertise in the field of research and development, testing, certification, homologation and creation of vehicle regulations. This is a leading research institute that came up with the latest testing facilities at its head office. Recently, the director of ARAI, Mr. Shrikant Marathe reveals new facilities and future plans of the institute.
He said that the institute has started off with various types of kinds of testing facilities which are useful for the new vehicles being introduced on the Indian roads. This will also include vehicle, tyre and seat testing facilities. According to Marathe, the institute has also performed about 2-3 different types of vehicle crashes in order to assess the impact of it on the occupants. Additionally, the vehicle manufacturers are challenging high quality seats. Hence they have started the facility of seat testing facility at the institute premises.
Mr. Marathe confessed that the Automotive Research Association of India has collaborated with other countries including China and Korea because many of automobile components are imported in India from these two countries. ARAI is also recognised by Singapore and can render their services to foreign consumers in China and Korea as well. ARAI is also in the process of development of the association with many other nation across the globe including South Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Marathe also said that huge investments made in the automotive industry across the world is a positive sign and if Automotive Research Association of India manages to develop even around 5 per cent of business, it can easily earn significant amount of foreign currency. To fortify this statement, he added that it is important for Automotive Research Association of India to manufacture at good and consistent speed while maintain high standards of quality.
