Providing better infrastructure facilities to travellers to Gujarat and attract tourists via the World Wide Web and mobile services, the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) has now decided to establish a 24x7 call centre. It has also planned to start off with a mobile application as well as GIS mapping of all tourist destinations of the state in order to facilitate the tourists avail best and latest info about the destinations, hotels and facilities. The service would also facilitate them in arranging adept taxi services and internet bookings.
As stated by Himanshu Kaushik in the Times of India, in a report, it is clear that the TCGL will offer adept services through the Gujarat Info Petro Limited (GIPL).
VK Sharma, chief Executive Officer of GIPL said, "We are at present in the middle of establishing new and developing new the facilities for the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat. We are expecting good things if everything goes as per plan. The new facility will be launched next week."
Navjeet Khokhar, Business Development Officer at GIPL, stated that they have been prearranged about three projects by TCGL and most of them are already in the last stages. These also include a 24-hour helpline wherein the operator would offer info based on queries. The second would definitely be a special website for instant online booking including a mobile application.
The minute one enters Gujarat with a mobile number that is outside the Gujarat circle, he instantly be greeted by the Gujarat tourism department. He will also be prompted to download an application. This will help him get directions within the state and even facilitate him with book hotels and taxi from his mobile phone. It will also help with hotel booking. The software will be different for Android, iPhone and Blackberry mobiles. The download would also be free.
