What Are The Different Types Of RTO Forms?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways offers a range of online RTO forms for various purposes:

  • Form 20: A motor vehicle registration application form.
  • Form 21: A sales certificate.
  • Form 23: This form issues a registration certificate.
  • Form 24: To register a motor vehicle, fill out this form.
  • Form 29: This is a transfer of ownership of a motor vehicle application. 
  • Form 38 A: An inspection report.
  • Form 50: A bill of lading certificate. 
  • Form 51: A certificate of insurance is issued after submission of this form. 
  • Form 54: This form is used to issue an information report regarding an accident.


Vehicle Registration Process in Howrah

To register your vehicle in Howrah, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your local RTO Howrah submit the necessary documents, and complete all the required forms. 
  2. Submit a demand draft for the road payment you must pay. 
  3. After this, you will be instructed by the RTO officer to submit all the necessary forms. 
  4. Now, you have to pay the required processing fees.
  5. After the payment is confirmed and verified, the RTO will allocate a vehicle registration number for your vehicle.
  6. Usually, this process takes two to three days. But sometimes, it may take longer.

If you have sold your car, the next step is to transfer ownership to the new owner. You will need to fill out forms 29 and 30 at the RTO office for transfer of ownership. After this, you must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state where the vehicle was initially registered. Remember to get the NOC from the financer if the vehicle is financed. 

Once you have completed the above process, you will require the Pollution Under Control (PUC) and vehicle insurance certificates. Remember to pay the fees and road taxes. Is It Compulsory to Register Your Vehicle with the RTO?

In India, it is mandatory to register your newly purchased vehicle with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) nearby. The RTO office issues a temporary registration number for your newly purchased vehicle.

This number is valid for one month. It is essential to purchase a permanent registration number for your vehicle during this time. This permanent number will remain the same until the vehicle is in operation.
