Transfer of Ownership of a Registered Vehicle in Vadodara

When selling a previously registered vehicle, you need not repeat the registration process. The new owner needs to transfer ownership to their name. To carry out the ownership transfer of a vehicle registered in Vadodara, you must complete Forms 29 and 30. Then, obtain a document acknowledging the transfer from its initial state of registration and ensure you get the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate.

If the vehicle is under a loan, acquire a no-objection certificate from the loan provider. Papers confirming the vehicle's compliance with pollution standards and valid insurance are also essential. Submit the applicable fees and taxes and complete all the necessary paperwork for a smooth ownership transfer.

Provide documentation verifying your age and address along with passport-sized photographs. A smooth and prompt transfer of ownership is possible if you follow these steps carefully and maintain all the relevant documents at hand.

Is it compulsory to register your vehicle with the RTO?

Yes, it is mandatory to carry a digital or hard copy of your vehicle's valid registration certificate (RC) while on the roads. Failure to furnish a proper RC can get your vehicle seized and the driver arrested. The Motor Vehicles Act stipulates INR 5,000/- as penalty for the first offence and INR 10,000/- for subsequent offences. Importantly, vehicle registration is beneficial for the owner as insurance can be secured to provide coverage from damage and theft. It also helps the authorities to keep track of vehicles in the event of theft or unlawful activity.

Four-Wheeler Insurance in Vadodara

Car insurance is compulsory in Vadodara as it is across the country. Insurance protects you if something unexpected happens to your vehicle, including an accident, theft, or damage. The law states you need at least third-party liability insurance, but this coverage type will not protect you and only cover injuries or damage to third parties. Comprehensive coverage gives your car broader protection and should be opted out of the two.

The RTO Vadodara monitors the cars and roads under its jurisdiction, ensuring everyone obeys the rules and stays safe. Getting your vehicle registered and insured properly allows you to drive worry-free, removing unnecessary issues and helping you focus on more important things instead.
