  • How To Check Transmission Fluid?

by User Not Found | Apr 02, 2025

Your car's transmission fluid keeps the gears running smoothly and prevents expensive repairs. Periodic inspections can help spot problems early and extend the life of your vehicle. If you wonder, “how do I check the transmission fluid?” this blog will guide you through the process.

    Steps to check transmission fluid?

Transmission oil plays a key role in your vehicle's health. It lubricates the moving parts, helps move power from the engine to the wheels, and keeps the transmission cool. Low or damaged oil can lead to major transmission problems. Let's go through the step-by-step guide on how to check transmission fluid.

    1.   Find the right spot

Start by stopping your car at a level area. This is important for getting a correct reading of the fluid level. A sloped surface can give you false results, possibly causing you to add too much or too little fluid.

    2.   Locate the dipstick

Open your car's hood and find the gearbox dipstick. It's usually found near the back of the engine and has a unique handle that's easy to grab. If you're having trouble finding it, check your owner's guidebook, as the position can change between car types.

    3.   Prepare the engine

Start your engine and let it run for a few minutes. This warms the transmission oil to its standard working temperature, giving you the most exact reading. The fluid increases as it warms up, so checking it cold might give you the wrong number.

    4.   Test all gears

With the parking brake applied, spin through all gear settings while the engine goes. Hold each pose for a few seconds. This ensures the fluid is properly spread throughout the drive system.

    5.   Check the fluid level and

    Now for the real check:

    • Take out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth
    • Reinsert it fully, then pull it out again
    • Check where the fluid level goes between the "Full" and "Add" marks

    6.   Observe the fluid condition

When checking the fluid's state, look for these signs:

    • Colour should be bright red and clear
    • The texture should be smooth and silky
    • There shouldn't be any burnt smell
    • The oil shouldn't have dark colouring or particles in it

    7.   Add fluid if needed

If the fluid level is below the "Add" mark, top it up. Important things to remember:

    • Use only the type of gearbox fluid suggested for your unique car
    • Add the liquids gently to avoid overfilling

    Conclusion

Regular gearbox oil checks are a simple but important part of car care. Following these steps every few months can help prevent problems and extend the life of your vehicle. While maintaining your vehicle is crucial, protecting your investment with complete car insurance is equally important. A good insurance policy can provide peace of mind and financial safety against unexpected fixes, crashes, and other vehicle issues.

  • Essential Guide To Understanding Clearway Sign Boards

by User Not Found | Apr 01, 2025

A clearway, commonly known as a No Stopping or Standing signboard, is a unique traffic sign consisting of a blue circle background with a red edge and a noticeable red 'X' in the centre. You know you're entering a clearway zone when you see this sign. A similar sign with a white background and a black slash can be found at the end of a clearway. These signs are crucial for traffic control and are meant to be easily recognisable by all road users. This blog covers everything if you are wondering what is a clearway?

    What is a clearway?

A clearway is a marked road where cars cannot stop for any reason except in emergencies. These places are usually formed on busy roads where parked or stopped vehicles could cause major traffic disruption. The restrictions on a clearway are quite strict:

    • No parking is allowed at any time.
    • Even brief stops are forbidden.
    • Vehicles found stopping illegally may be taken away.

    Benefits of clearway sign board

Clearway signs serve several important functions in traffic management:

    • First and foremost, they help keep traffic flow smooth on busy roads. By blocking cars from stopping or parking, clearways ensure all lanes stay clear and approachable.
    • They prohibit vehicles from stopping suddenly or partly blocking traffic lines. This is particularly important on high-speed roads or places with heavy traffic flow.
    • Clearways help emergency vehicles respond more quickly. With no stopped or parked cars blocking the way, ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles can travel through traffic more quickly.

    Conclusion

Every driver should understand clearway signs and rules. While these limits might seem strict, they are vital in maintaining traffic flow and ensuring road safety. Breaking clearway rules can result in large fines and possibly getting your car towed.

Regarding road safety and compliance, car insurance coverage is another crucial aspect of responsible driving. In today's digital age, getting car insurance online has become easier than ever through online sites. Online car insurance offers the advantage of checking multiple quotes quickly, allowing you to find the best coverage at reasonable prices. An appropriate insurance policy provides financial protection against accidents, theft, third-party damage, and more.

  • Understanding Ghost Immobiliser Technology For Car Security

by User Not Found | Apr 01, 2025

A ghost immobiliser is a clever security device that protects your vehicle from car thieves with modern technologies. If you are wondering “what is a ghost immobiliser,” this blog will explain everything you need to know.

What is a ghost immobiliser in car?

A ghost immobiliser is an advanced security device that prevents the unauthorised starting of your car by needing a unique PIN code series. Unlike traditional security systems, it uses no obvious keypads or extra hardware. Instead, it cleverly uses your car's current buttons on the steering wheel or centre panel to create a secret starting sequence.

The method links to your car's Control Area Network (CAN) system. Before the engine can start, you must enter the right PIN code using different buttons in your vehicle. What makes this system particularly smart is its stealth — there are no clear signs that your car has this extra layer of security, making it harder for thieves to prepare for or avoid it.

Even if someone manages to steal your car keys or successfully clones them, they won't be able to drive away without knowing the exact button sequence. With numerous possible combinations using the car's current buttons, it's nearly impossible for anybody to guess the right order.

    Benefits of ghost immobiliser

The ghost immobiliser has several benefits that make it stand out from standard security systems:

    • Invisible Protection: Since it uses existing car keys, there's no obvious sign of the security system.
    • No Signal Vulnerability: Unlike other security systems, it doesn't release any radio signals that can be discovered or cloned.
    • Wide Compatibility: The system works with almost all modern cars, making it a flexible security option.
    • Service Mode: A special function that lets you briefly disable the system when leaving your car with mechanics or valets without showing your PIN.
    • Clean Installation: The system can be installed without cutting wires, keeping your car's electrical health.

    Conclusion

In an age when car thieves are becoming increasingly savvy, ghost immobilisers offer a clever and effective security option. Their stealthy nature and the inability to be defeated through standard hacking methods make them a powerful barrier against car theft.

While a ghost immobiliser provides physical safety for your vehicle, combining it with comprehensive car insurance ensures peace of mind. A robust car insurance is your financial safety net for various risks, including accidents, natural disasters, or the rare event of a successful theft. Today, getting car insurance online is easier than ever. Many online tools let you compare quotes from multiple companies and choose the plan that fits your needs.

  • What Is a Car Inspection?

by User Not Found | Mar 26, 2025

    Introduction

Car ownership sounds great, but it is seldom a simple process, as it involves a lot of responsibilities. One such obligation is related to auto insurance, which necessitates a car inspection. This procedure evaluates a car’s condition in order to provide insurance coverage.

Would you like to know when and how to begin the car inspection process? Read on to learn more about what is a car inspection and what do you need for car inspection.

    Meaning of car inspection

All around the world, governments have made it mandatory for car owners to obtain car insurance in order to undergo a four-wheeler inspection. The insurance company generally conducts a motor vehicle or car inspection when you contact them to purchase an insurance policy.

Also to note, this inspection will be performed at the insurance company's expense. Convincing the insurance company that there is no appreciable risk associated with your car's condition is the goal of the inspection.

    How does car inspection work?

The following types of inspection methods are most common:

    1. Inspection with Courtesy

It is a visual examination of the most prevalent parts of an automobile, such as the wipers, lights, and oil. This type of inspection typically takes place when changing tyres or oil.

    1. Inspection of Insurance

Most regions require this type of vehicle inspection for cars that are ten years old or older. The primary focus of this inspection will be the state of your car's vital components, such as the exhaust, suspension, brakes, and other components.

    1. A 12-point Evaluation

It's a methodical approach to inspect cars. During this type of inspection, the auto insurance company will primarily look over the following aspects of your vehicle.

    • To guarantee optimal tread life, the insurance company will balance your tyres and occasionally rotate them.
    • Along with measuring the tread depth, they will also inspect the tyres for debris, bulges, and cracks.
    • They'll make sure your car's wheels are properly aligned and balanced.
    • The car's fluid levels—including those of the brake, anti-freeze, and windscreen washer fluids—will all be taken into account.

    Conclusion

Every owner is required to undergo a car inspection. Governments, however, are often relenting in certain circumstances, which can help avert such an inspection. Additionally, the insurance company won't inspect your vehicle if you renew your policy on time.

  • How to Get FASTag easily?

by User Not Found | Mar 26, 2025

    Introduction

If you are not familiar with FASTag and how it works, then now is the time to become familiar with it.

In accordance with the latest government orders, FASTag will become mandatory from 16th February 2021 for all vehicles in the country. Without FASTag, you will be liable to pay double the toll.

FASTag is a government-sponsored program that works as a prepaid instrument for vehicles on national highways.

There are currently 23 major banks that issue FASTags, which facilitate the collection of tolls. Read further to know how to get how to get fastag online in easy steps.

Steps to get a FASTag online

FASTag was created in 2014 between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and since December 2017, all new vehicles sold in India must have a FASTag.

As of 2020, all 615 NHAI toll plazas and 100 state highway toll plazas use FASTag for toll collection.

By January 2021, all vehicles will be required to use FASTag at toll booths since it accounts for over 80% of the total toll collected across national highways.

Here are the steps on how to get fastag for car

    1. Visit icicibank.com/fastag
    2. Select "New Customer"
    3. You will be directed to the FASTag online application page.
    4. Please fill in all the required information in the designated fields.
    5. Proceed with the payment
    6. Your FASTag will be sent to you by courier once your payment has been processed successfully.

FASTags are valid for a minimum of five years, so you don't have to worry about renewals. Toll deductions and FASTag account balance notifications can also be received via SMS.

Located on the windscreen of your vehicle, FASTags are linked directly to your prepaid wallet, which in turn can be linked directly to your Savings Account or Current Account, depending on which option you choose.

As the toll amount is deducted directly from your prepaid FASTag wallet, you are able to pass toll plazas on the highways completely cashless, so there is no need to carry cash with you.

There is no need for you to stop during your trip in order to pay a toll since the toll plaza records the information from the FASTag as the vehicle passes through, thereby eliminating the need for you to halt during your trip.

The government plans to integrate the FASTag as a multi-utility payment tool outside of highways as well, such as at parking lots, etc., where FASTag can be used as a payment tool for multiple utilities. Having a FASTag installed on your car can prove to be a very inconvenient ordeal, and from January 2021 it will be a mandate for all vehicles to be equipped with one. Make sure you get FASTag for your car so that you can support the country's digital ambitions and help it reach its goals.

By the end of April 2020, all cars carrying FASTags will be required to acquire third-party insurance, which is a mandatory insurance cover that is an essential part of all car insurance policies.

Furthermore, if you enter a FASTag lane without a FASTag, you'll be liable to pay double the amount of the toll if you enter without one.

Similarly, if your FASTag is not functional due to an impairment to the RFID or an insufficient balance, the same rule applies. Therefore, having a FASTag is both a matter of convenience as well as a matter of safety.

  • Types of Car Mufflers

by User Not Found | Mar 25, 2025

A car muffler is of great importance in keeping a vehicle in good condition and noise-free. In addition to reducing noise, the right car muffler type can also affect your car's performance and even its fuel efficiency.

Car Muffler Type Depending on Raw Material

The type of material used in the muffler can determine its durability, weight, and performance. Here are some common materials:

    • Galvanised mufflers: These are made of galvanised steel, which is very resistant to rusting. However, they are heavier than other materials.
    • Aluminum mufflers: Made of light, rust-proof material, this type of muffler is equated to durability without performance damage.
    • Titanium mufflers: Lightweight and high in thermal resistance, these are extremely common among performance-minded vehicle owners.
    • Carbon mufflers: Although a bit pricier, carbon mufflers provide better performance regarding the exhaust system and are well-loved by car lovers.

Car Muffler Type Depending on Construction

The way a muffler manages exhaust noise and emissions is significantly affected by its build. The main types based on construction are as follows:

    • Straight flow mufflers: These are designed with a straight pipe with holes around it in the path of the gases, thereby providing the least restriction. They find extensive use in racing vehicles because they increase performance and give way to a loud-sounding exhaust.
    • Resonance chamber mufflers: These have chambers with holes strategically set in place to allow exhaust gases to spread out and hence reduce noise. They are designed to enhance the performance of the exhaust system and are mostly used in high-performance vehicles.
    • Factory mufflers: These types of mufflers are mostly used in regular vehicles. They circulate the gases out of the system using a combination of exhaust and inlet pipes; therefore, they run at lower temperatures and produce less noise.
    • Zigzag chamber mufflers: These curb noise and cut exhaust emissions, making them a perfect selection for someone who wants a quieter ride.

    Conclusion

The right car muffler type does not only reduce noise; it can also ensure better vehicle performance and a more comfortable drive. This will help you be more informed about car maintenance decisions, which could save you money and increase your vehicle's life span. Remember to get car insurance as financial coverage against vehicle accidents, damage, and theft.

  • How to Use Jumper Cables?

by User Not Found | Mar 25, 2025

Having a dead battery is a situation you want to avoid, especially when you are about to drive to work or need to reach somewhere urgently. For this reason, learning how to use jumper cables becomes necessary.

    Steps to Use Jumper Cables

You must follow these simple steps to restart your car’s dead battery using jumper cables:

    • Open the hoods of your car and the one with the good battery and expose the battery posts.
    • The (+) or (-) signs indicate positive and negative posts. Eliminate any dirt from the posts before you go to the next step. You may need to seek help from someone at this point if you are still asking yourself: how do you use jumper cables?
    • Connect one of the red clamps of the jumper cables to the positive post of your dead battery before clamping the matching end of the same cable to the positive post of the working battery.
    • Now, connect one of the black clamps to the negative post of the good battery. Don’t connect the other end to the dead battery's negative post; instead, clamp it to the bare metal surface area of the engine on the dead battery car. This will serve as an earthing.
    • Start the car's engine, which has a working battery; let it remain idle for a few minutes. Now, follow the same procedure for your car.
    • If your car’s battery restarts without any hassle, disconnect the black clamp from the dead battery, then remove the red clamp from the good battery and, finally, from your car’s battery.
    • Keep your vehicle running for some time and get its voltage checked.

    Conclusion

Knowing how to restart a vehicle’s dead battery is essential as it won’t leave you stranded in the middle of a highway or other places. Similarly, purchasing a comprehensive car insurance policy ensures peace of mind every time you take to the road.

  • What is a Suspension System in a Car?

by User Not Found | Mar 25, 2025

A car suspension system comprises various components, including shafts, linkages, tyres, springs, struts, joints, shock absorbers, bushings, and arms that connect your car to the wheels and create motion between them. With the help of dampers and springs, it maintains tyre contact with the road and absorbs road bumps.

    Car Suspension System

The car suspension system acts as a link between the wheels and the vehicle. It facilitates motion and ensures the wheel’s proper alignment. The suspension system’s efficiency determines the ability of your vehicle to withstand stress. So, let’s learn about the suspension system’s function and how it helps you navigate speed breakers, potholes, and other undulations on the road.

    • The main function of the car suspension is to absorb shock, ensure a smooth drive when you navigate potholes, bumps, etc., and maintain constant tire-road contact.
    • Car suspensions vary, ranging from double-wishbone setups to MacPherson struts, commonly found at the front of the vehicle, to multi-link suspensions at the rear.
    • The anti-squat and anti-dive functionalities of the suspension are critical during braking and acceleration, maintaining control and balance.
    • Proper suspension upkeep guards against wear and tear of vital components and enhances driving comfort.
    • Excessive front-end dipping, unequal tyre wear, and excessive bouncing may suggest suspension alignment issues.
    • Early intervention and detection of suspension issues can ensure safety and maintain ride smoothness. A compromised suspension can adversely affect comfort and impact vehicle control and stability.

    Conclusion

The suspension system in a car ensures the safety of the occupants and helps the tyres maintain contact with the road. If the suspension system has suffered damage, you should get it replaced immediately. Also, invest in a comprehensive car insurance policy to safeguard your vehicle and yourself and tide over unforeseen circumstances that could leave a dent in your pocket.

  • Seat Belt Laws

by User Not Found | Mar 24, 2025

Seat belt laws are essential regulations that compel drivers to fasten their seat belts to increase road safety. The seat belt rule requires that all occupants in a moving vehicle wear seat belts at all times. Seat belt regulations seek to reduce the incidence of accident-related fatalities or serious injuries. The laws regarding seat belt usage differ from country to country or even region to region; while some require it on the front seat only, others need it by all passengers.

Legal Requirements And Seat Belt Laws In India

The rules under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 in India strictly impose on drivers and passengers to wear seat belts. The car seat belt law states that if a person fails to wear it, they get arrested and penalised. The penalty for this offense was ₹100 but has now increased to ₹1,000. This alteration was done after reviewing the recent changes that were made to the Motor Vehicles Act on the severity of offences related to seat belts. Every state has a different approach to enforcing this rule, and the implications range from loss of licence to having the car impounded.

It is interesting to note that failing to wear a seat belt can result in up to three months imprisonment in some cases. Hence, adhering to the seat belt rule is crucial to protecting oneself, meeting the legal guidelines, and avoiding a fine.

The adult backseat seat belt law in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules mandates that passengers sitting in the back row of the car use seat belts.

    Conclusion

Wearing a seat belt is legally required to ensure the safety of passengers. Besides lowering the risk of injuries in collisions, compliance impacts your car insurance policy since safety features are frequently taken into account when determining premiums. Also, remember that the insurance gives you financial coverage against unforeseen events.

  • Muffler Meaning in Car

by User Not Found | Mar 24, 2025

Do you ever wonder what that metal box behind your car's exhaust tip is for? It's called a muffler and might be more important than you think. Let's explore the muffler meaning in a car and why this integral part plays a crucial role in your vehicle's performance.

    What is a Car Muffler?

A car muffler, or silencer, can be found at the rear of your vehicle, where the exhaust pipes are located. It literally serves to dampen the noise of the engine. Essentially, it is made of hard steel and topped with aluminum, connecting the engine with its corresponding exhaust pipes and filtering out smoke and debris from reaching your car's cabin. The car muffler serves two main functions: it dampens the sound of the system and controls the performance of the engine by doing away with toxic exhaust gases. Without a working muffler, your car could be very loud and unsafe because of the exhaust fumes that would not get filtered.

    Conclusion

Understanding the muffler meaning in a car is crucial for maintaining its performance and safety. In the same way car insurance shields you from financial losses and liabilities from accidents.
