  • Complete Guide to Personal Accident Insurance 2025

    by mohit bohra | Apr 14, 2025

The nature of accidents is such that they come stealthily and depart swiftly, leaving many in tears behind them. Personal accident insurance is efficacious in such situations. The primary purpose of this is to compensate the family in the event of an accidental death or disability. Read on to learn more about the features of personal accident insurance.

What are the Features of Personal Accident Insurance?

The characteristics of personal accident insurance are:

    Accidental death of the policyholder

In the event of death due to an accident, the insurance company pays the insured amount to the nominee or the dependents of the deceased. For instance, if somebody has taken personal accident insurance of Rs. 50 lakh and unfortunately passes away in an accident, irrespective of whether it is a major or minor accident, the company will pay Rs. 50 lakh to his dependents as compensation. However, the policy does not provide coverage against death due to childbirth or a complicated pregnancy.

    Permanent partial disability

If an accident renders any of your body parts, say a thumb, incapacitated, the insurance company compensates a certain percentage of the sum insured according to the disability, as pre-defined in the insurance policy. If the rate is not already defined,  compensation is provided based on the medical certificate prepared by the doctor. The sum is either provided in installments or paid at once.

    Permanent total disability

Any major accident can cause a disability of a permanent nature, rendering a body part entirely useless, such as loss of eyesight, hands, or limbs, a paralysis attack, or leading to coma. Such accidents can leave a person unemployed for their entire lifetime, causing financial upheaval in the family. In such cases, the insurer provides the insured sum to the dependents.

    Temporary total disability

Few accidents cause disability for a specific period, and there is hope of a complete recovery. Such incidents are categorised as temporary total disabilities. The company provides compensation every week to the policyholder until final recovery. The sum paid is determined based on the severity of the injury. However, if the policyholder harms himself intentionally, the insurer is not liable to pay a single penny.

    Accidental hospitalisation coverage

A few policies also compensate for hospitalisation due to an accident. The insurance company bears the expenses during treatment, including the doctor's consultation fee. Pre- and post-hospitalisation charges are also included. The features are very similar to those provided in a health insurance plan.

Ambulance charges and coverage for carriage of dead body

One of the noteworthy features of personal accident insurance is the coverage of ambulance charges for carrying the insured from the location of the accident to the hospital. Unfortunately, if the policyholder passes away during this time, a certain percentage of the sum insured is provided over and above the insured amount to carry the dead body home.

In addition to the above features of personal accident insurance, the insurer also pays for the children's education. Compensation is provided for alteration in the house to ensure the mobility of the insured suffering total disablement. Other add-ons in the policy provide an option of loan repayment by the insurer in the event of the sudden demise of the insured.

    Conclusion

The premium for personal accident insurance varies as per the profession of a person. For instance, a teacher has fewer chances of breaking legs than a mountaineer and, therefore, will pay a lesser premium. Ensure that you check out all the features of personal accident insurance and make a wise investment.

  • Treatment of Campylobacteriosis Disease

    by Tanmay Ahuja | Apr 14, 2025

Campylobacteriosis, caused by the Campylobacter bacteria, is a common foodborne illness leading to stomach cramps, diarrhoea, and fever. This blog explores the treatment of campylobacteriosis, covering various aspects of care and recovery to help you understand how to handle campylobacter treatment.

Before we discuss campylobacter infection treatment, let us give a quick brief on what it is.

    What is Campylobacteriosis?

Campylobacteriosis is caused by one of several species of Campylobacter bacteria, particularly Campylobacter jejuni. The most common symptom of this infection is diarrhoea. It is also possible for the infection to cause fever and abdominal cramps.

Humans are usually infected with Campylobacter after eating poorly prepared meat, particularly undercooked chicken. One of the most common causes of foodborne illness is Campylobacter.

The immaturity of the immune system makes infants particularly susceptible to campylobacteriosis. There is also a greater risk of infection among young adults, perhaps due to a lack of experience with cooking and handling raw meat. Therefore, they may be exposed to potentially contaminated foods on a more frequent basis.

What is the Treatment of Campylobacteriosis?

Here are some important points surrounding the treatment of campylobacteriosis

    • The primary objective of treating Campylobacter-related diarrhoea is to replace lost body fluids and electrolytes (chemical substances involved in a variety of bodily functions).
    • Dehydration may occur if you have severe diarrhoea. Your doctor will prescribe oral or intravenous fluids to treat your dehydration.
    • Since Campylobacter infections are usually self-limited, your doctor may not prescribe an antibiotic if you are otherwise healthy.
    • Azithromycin (Zithromax) should be the first choice when considering campylobacter infection treatment. While most strains will respond to fluoroquinolones, such as levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin, antibiotic resistance and side effects are more common with these antibiotics.
    • Your doctor may recommend loperamide (Imodium, generic versions) or another antidiarrheal medication to reduce diarrhoea.

    Conclusion

For effective treatment of campylobacteriosis, prompt medical attention and proper treatment are essential. In order to recover from an illness, antibiotics, hydration, and rest are crucial. Nevertheless, prevention remains the best course of action. The practice of food safety and proper hygiene can help reduce the risk of this illness, ensuring a healthier and safer future for everyone. Additionally, having comprehensive health insurance can help cover medical expenses during treatment, ensuring peace of mind.

  • Treatment of Echinococcosis Disease

    by Tanmay Ahuja | Apr 14, 2025

Humans have got many diseases from animals and Echinococcosis Disease is one such disease. The disease is parasitic in nature and comes from the tapeworm of the Echinococcus genus. Echinococcus cyst treatment is possible but it is rather expensive and causes a lot of impact on the overall health of the infected person as well.

What is the Treatment of echinococcosis?

The echinococcus granulosus treatment is possible but it involves expensive surgeries and drug therapy which can stretch over time. Let us understand it in detail -

    • Generally, the process starts by taking ultrasound imagery. For Echinococcus liver cyst treatment, ultrasound can be taken more than once. The same is true with the case of Echinococcus granulosus treatment. It allows the doctor to have a clear picture of the infection so they can decide the way forward.
    • The first step in treatment is called PAIR in which four steps are done. These are Puncture, Aspiration, Injection, Re-aspiration. Doctors puncture the skin and cyst remove the liquids, and inject the cyst.
    • It can be followed by extensive surgical processes to remove the cysts in case PAIR results present a result that makes surgery necessary.
    • The surgery is followed by a long time of drug therapy. Anti-infective drugs are given to the person undergoing treatment.
    • After this, it just becomes a matter of waiting and watching to see if things work out or if further treatment is needed.

    Conclusion

While prevention is always the best possible approach, echinococcus cyst treatment is very much possible and this is a cause of hope and strength for anyone with this problem. Though they have to be ready for a long-drawn treatment regimen, when it all ends, they will get fully cured and be able to live a healthy life. It's important to check if your health insurance covers the costs of such extensive treatments, as it can involve significant medical expenses.

  • Treatment of Giardiasis Disease

    by Tanmay Ahuja | Apr 14, 2025

Giardiasis disease, also called lambliasis is a type of diarrhoeal disease which can be a very concerning health issue, especially if it becomes severe. Its symptoms can cause a lot of uneasiness and discomfort to anyone who gets infected by the Giardia parasite. However, the good part is that giardiasis treatment is not only possible but very simple and easily affordable. Medicines are easily available and are very effective.

What is the Treatment of Giardiasis?

Giardiasis is easily treatable and the process is very simple and non-invasive. You do not have to worry about any painful or costly surgery and in most cases, even hospitalisation is not needed either.

    • The most common medicine for giardiasis treatment is Metronidazole. It is a highly effective antibiotic and is known to work well among most people. Its treatment can have rare cases of side effects like a metallic taste in the mouth or a feeling of nausea.
    • In case of Metronidazole not being available, the second option for lamblia treatment that is being recommended by doctors is Tinidazole. This is also an effective antibiotic. It can cause side effects like the one above but its advantage is that it can be taken in a single dose.
    • Since both the above medicines are available in the form of tables, they are not really a choice for small children. Since a number of children get infected and need lamblia treatment, they are given Nitazoxanide which is available in liquid form.

    Conclusion

Just because giardiasis treatment is easily manageable, does not mean that we can act careless with regard to hygiene. As a disease, it can be very inconvenient even if it may not be expensive. Prevention is better than cure so all of us must maintain proper hygiene at all times including washing hands regularly and consuming clean food and water. Additionally, checking if your health insurance covers such treatments can help you stay financially prepared for unexpected medical needs.

  • Is Rotavirus Contagious: Symptoms and Prevention

    by Almog Ramrajkar | Apr 14, 2025

Yes, rotavirus is very contagious. It is one of the most common causes of severe diarrhoea in younger children, especially infants. Rotavirus is easily transmitted from one person to another, especially in places like daycare, schools and hospitals where kids are closely confined to each other.

Fever, vomiting, and watery diarrhoea are some symptoms of rotavirus infection, which can also lead to dehydration. Hence, parents ought to know how the disease gets infected and for how long children are infected.

    Is Rotavirus Communicable?

Rotavirus is an infection that can easily spread from one person to another. The infected person excretes the viral particles in their stools, with the highest concentration occurring in the acute phase of the illness.

But how long is rotavirus contagious? The rotavirus can survive on surfaces for several days and is easily transmitted to people who might touch a surface or object that has been infected and then touch their face or mouth. Where children congregate, rotavirus is known to spread rapidly within the population, increasing the chances of an outbreak.

    How Does Rotavirus Spread?

Let’s learn about how rotavirus is transmitted:

    • Rotavirus mainly transmits via the fecal-oral route.
    • This virus goes from an infected individual’s stool to another person.
    • People can also get it if they come into contact with infected surfaces or handle infected things such as toys and food.
    • The lack of clean hands, especially among young children, facilitates infection.
    • Inadequate sanitation also leads to its spread.
    • Rotavirus can persist on some surfaces for days.

    Conclusion

Rotavirus is the most common viral infection among children and infants. It is caused by a direct relationship between infected articles and food. If left unattended, it has the potential to cause severe complications in children. Families must have health insurance to get the appropriate medical attention when required.

  • Is Norovirus Contagious: Transmission and Prevention

    by Almog Ramrajkar | Apr 14, 2025

Norovirus is very contagious. It is also known informally as the “stomach virus” or the “winter vomiting virus”. But how is Norovirus transmitted? The virus can be passed on by an infected individual even before any of the tell-tale symptoms appear. It can also be passed on for several days after the illness subsides.

The symptoms are generally seen as vomiting as w, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.

    Is Norovirus Communicable?

Norovirus is infectious as it can be transferred from one individual to another. It is a leading cause of global gastroenteritis outbreaks and can be contracted through proximity to an infected individual, consuming contaminated food or water, or touching contaminated surfaces.

But how long is norovirus contagious? The virus exists for days on surfaces, so other people can get the illness quite easily when there are lapses in hygiene, such as handwashing. The infectious nature of the norovirus is a cause of worry in groups and epidemic events, as several individuals can be infected within a short period.

    How Does Norovirus Spread?

    • Through the ingestion of contaminated food or drinks, most probably through raw or undercooked shellfish.
    • From a norovirus patient just by direct contact with them, particularly when there is vomiting or diarrhoea.
    • By using hands that have touched contaminated surfaces and then wiping lips, nose, or eyes with unwashed hands.
    • In places with a high population density and proximity between individuals, the chances of infection increase in leaps.
    • Aerosolised vomitus or vomitous mist is particularly emitted during and before vomiting and can spread to people around.

    Conclusion

Norovirus has extremely high contagiousness and transmissibility and is quickly spread by the medium of contaminated food, contact, and dirty surfaces.

This virus is especially wicked since an individual can transmit the virus for days after feeling better. Hence, proper hygienic practices and cleaning are very important. Proper sanitation, hand washing, and food safety can avoid norovirus outbreaks. Preventive measures like good hygiene remain the best defence against this highly contagious virus. Check that your health insurance plan covers medical visits related to norovirus, such as hospital stays and consultations.

  • Is Pertussis Contagious: Transmission Guide

    by Almog Ramrajkar | Apr 14, 2025

Yes, pertussis, otherwise known as whooping cough, is very infectious. It is caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis and primarily affects the respiratory system. Though it is prevalent in people of all ages, it is particularly fatal to infants and young children. This illness is mostly contagious in its acute stages.

    Is Pertussis Communicable?

Pertussis is a communicable disease. It spreads easily from one individual to the other through indisposition, by droplets of secretion from coughs and sneezes.

But how contagious is whooping cough? If an infected person sneezes or coughs, pathogens can be expelled into the environment suitable for inhalation by someone near the sick person. Once cough onset occurs, those infected by the disease could spread germs for up to two weeks, making initiating containment measures against disease outbreaks critical.

This means that the disease can spread rapidly and outbreaks are prevalent, especially in places where people are relatively close to one another, e.g., schools, daycare homes, and homes. The vaccine is the best way to prevent this infection and the chances of transmission.

    How Does Pertussis Spread?

    • By being near an infected person, especially in crowded or enclosed spaces.
    • Prolonged exposure to someone with pertussis increases the risk of transmission.
    • Babies and unvaccinated individuals are particularly vulnerable to contracting the disease.

    Conclusion

Pertussis is one of the most contagious communicable diseases. The infection can be transmitted via droplets. Knowing how is pertussis transmitted helps implement the correct prevention measures, such as immunisation, which is the best way to prevent whooping cough.

Remember to get a health insurance policy to cover medical costs.

  • Is Mumps Contagious: Symptoms and Prevention

    by Almog Ramrajkar | Apr 14, 2025

Mumps, which affects the salivary glands, is a common contagious disease. It often causes swelling in the throat. Mumps can primarily affect children but is now under control due to a surge in vaccination. “Is mumps contagious?” is a common question that people ask. It can be tricky to understand if someone has mumps because most affected individuals do not show any symptoms.

    Is Mumps Communicable?

Is mumps a communicable disease? Yes, it is. Mumps is easier to spread to those who are not vaccinated. It usually has the potential to infect people even before showing any symptoms, making it difficult to isolate them. Once the face swelling starts, the chances of spread are much higher. This chance remains at its optimum high nine days after the face starts swelling.

    How Does Mumps Spread?

Now that you know mumps can spread, it is also crucial to ascertain how mumps spread. Respiratory droplets are a pertinent medium of mumps spread.

    •     Touching Contaminated Surface: Touching a spot that has respiratory droplets and then touching your face or nose is the most common way for mumps to spread.
    •     Keeping Close Contact: Mumps can also spread very easily through close contact. The release of the virus becomes a primary cause, and it can happen when an individual sneezes or coughs. Being in the same space and inhaling the air can lead to the easy spread of mumps.
    •     Direct Contact: If you use the same utensils that were previously used by a person infected with mumps, it can lead to infection via saliva.

    Conclusion

Now that you know how mumps is transmitted, it is important to be more vigilant. The best way to get rid of infection is to avoid close contact with those who have mumps or show signs. Sharing items or even surface contact is the most common method of the disease's spread. Remember to get health insurance to cover medical costs.

  • Is Measles Contagious: Transmission Guide

    by Almog Ramrajkar | Apr 14, 2025

Yes, measles is very contagious, and the rate of spread is also quite fast. You might notice people asking, "Is measles a contagious disease?" Well, it is and can get worse if the affected individual is not isolated. During the first week, the chances of spread are higher, and hence, extra attention is important. Areas with low vaccination rates are often more susceptible to measles.

    Is Measles Communicable?

Measles is indeed communicable, and the primary mode of transmission is through respiratory droplets. These droplets, released when an infected person coughs or sneezes, are the main culprits in spreading the virus.

The virus can stay in the air for a minimum of two hours. Such high longevity makes it easy for the virus to spread. The chances of spreading in closed spaces like offices or schools are higher.

    How Does Measles Spread?

Do you want to know how measles is spread via air? Some of the most common ways that measles spread are:

    • When someone with measles sneezes, releasing the droplets into the air.
    • An individual who inhales the same air can get infected.
    • Even if there is no direct contact, measles can spread if someone is touching a surface that is contaminated.
    • Touching your face, eyes, nose, or mouth with contaminated hands can spread measles.

    Conclusion

Measles, a contagious disease spread through the air, can infect both children and adults. Understanding how measles spreads is key to effectively managing the disease and preventing its spread. Get health insurance to safeguard yourself financially when infected with a disease.

  • How Testing for Borderline Personality Disorder Helps Diagnosis

    by mohit bohra | Apr 14, 2025

It is necessary to know about mental health disorders, like borderline personality disorder (BPD), in order to manage them. In this blog, we will describe the process of testing for borderline personality disorder and present easy and concise information on the borderline personality disorder diagnosis and how to take the test.

    Borderline Personality Disorder Diagnosis

Borderline personality disorder diagnosis is usually carried out by a healthcare professional after a detailed evaluation. This assessment comprises an interview to identify symptoms, medical history, and an account of the patient’s illness. The diagnosis for BPD is made according to the DSM-5, which has clear-cut criteria that should be met.

In particular, a correct BPD medical diagnosis is critical in treatment procedures. It aids in the prognosis of the disease and knowledge about it.

Take the Borderline Personality Disorder Test

Taking a borderline personality disorder test is a giant leap to getting to know more about your mental health. These tests are usually questionnaires that seek to measure conditions and behaviours linked to BPD. Here’s what you can expect:

Self-assessment: You will be asked questions about how you feel, think, and do. This is useful for identifying patterns that, if revealed, might indicate BPD.

Professional evaluation: Following the self-assessment test, a mental health care provider will analyse your responses and then proceed to an interview. This evaluation is critical when diagnosing a patient with borderline personality disorder.

Medical history: It is crucial to describe all previous conditions and diseases. Many of the symptoms overlap with other psychiatric conditions, and this assists in excluding competing explanations and confirming the BPD medical diagnosis.

These tests are supposed to be simple and uncomplicated. Their purpose is to offer a coherent image of your condition and help the health professional make the correct BPD diagnosis.

Knowing or learning about mental health status assists in empowering the patient and looking for the right treatment.

Make sure your health insurance policy includes mental health treatment costs.

    Conclusion

The process of testing for borderline personality disorder involves several steps, including self-assessment and consultation with a specialist. A proper borderline personality disorder diagnosis is vital to meet the requirements of the therapy process. Ensure your health insurance policy includes mental health services so you can seek the appropriate financial help.

  • When to Purchase Travel Insurance for a Safe Journey

    by mohit bohra | Apr 14, 2025

While planning a trip abroad, travel enthusiasts are likely busy weaving dreams about the big adventures that will unfold overseas. However, one crucial aspect that most people need to remember is having travel insurance. This blog discusses when to purchase travel insurance and why securing your trip is vital against any unforeseen incidents.

When Is the Best Time to Get Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance coverage should ideally start the day you physically depart from your home for a trip to a foreign country. This enables you to be covered for medical emergencies, flight delays, trip cancellations, etc.

In the case of trip cancellation, the protection begins at 12 a.m. on the day after purchasing insurance and is valid until your trip starts. Travel insurance ends on the exact day of your home arrival. Some insurance coverage can be extended if there is a delay due to an insured reason. Most travel policies also extend insurance coverage if unforeseen circumstances delay your return home on time.

Now, the question arises when to purchase travel insurance. The simple answer is to buy it while booking flight tickets for your trip. It gives you peace of mind should any untoward incident occur before and during your flight.

It is highly recommended that you buy an insurance policy at least 14 days before your trip so that it becomes fully functional. This 14-day window provides maximum benefits through comprehensive coverage for medical emergencies, baggage loss, and travel delays. Late purchases may lead to denial of benefits like trip cancellation, though it will cover all other benefits.

Also, by investing early in the insurance purchase, you have the leverage to update your policy later with the final trip cost.

    Conclusion

Don’t delay buying your travel insurance once you have decided to go on an international trip. Check it for ample coverage of any potential risks associated with your journey and at the destination. Also, read through the policy’s terms and conditions carefully before starting your journey to know your rights and obligations in case an emergency arises.
