Among the common types of behavioural therapy, one well-known option is cognitive behavioural therapy. Cognitive behavioural therapy types are prevalent, and they focus on the behavioural patterns of individuals along with cognitive therapy.

What are the Types of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

CBT types are quite a few, and depending on the type and severity of the symptoms, the most applicable option has to be chosen. Usually, the therapist or psychologist will collaborate closely with a team of professionals to improve symptoms. As a form of behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy is highly effective and it can be leveraged to bring people back to the main flow of life.

  1. Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy

Among the types of CBT therapies, one of the most popular options is cognitive behavioural play therapy. Here, the therapist watches the child play and gains a detailed insight into what the child is trying to communicate.

The child’s choice of toys and their style of play can help therapists gain useful insights. The therapist will work with the caregiver to help the child achieve set standards.

  1. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Yet another popular option among the types of therapy CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy was originally introduced to treat the signs of borderline personality disorder. This form of cognitive behavioural therapy aims at reconstructing destructive or disturbing thoughts to ensure the individual’s behaviour is not hampered. Some of the common treatment strategies used in the context of dialectical behaviour therapy are mindfulness and emotional regulation.

The DBT mode of therapy usually consists of four modules, often referred to as the core of DBT. They include mindfulness, efficacy in maintaining interpersonal relationships, regulation of emotions, and distress threshold. Dialectical behaviour therapy helps individuals improve their coping skills.

  1. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

A highly relevant option among the types of cognitive behaviour therapy is acceptance and commitment (ACT) therapy. The major tenet of ACT is that people's thoughts are greatly affected by the events and people around them. Among the behaviour therapy types, ACT is one option that is highly relevant in today's context.

ACT aims to improve the avoidant pattern that most individuals exhibit in the context of pain. The best thing about ACT is that it allows individuals to tolerate pain in an ideal way, by clarifying the values they hold. Individuals can easily overcome feelings of fixation.

Conclusion

Mental health is of primary importance and it is now covered by sound health insurance. Besides being highly effective, cognitive behavioural therapy is quickly gaining popularity for its ability to tackle problems in the current context.
