Who can buy Complete Home Protect Policy?

Both home owners and tenants can opt for Complete Home Protect Policy. While the owner can go for both building and content cover, tenants can go for content cover to protect their belongings.

What type of dwellings can be covered under Complete Home Protect Policy?

We cover flats, individual apartments, row houses and bungalows under Complete Home Protect Policy.

What is the procedure for assessing the value of my home building and its contents?

The value of your home building is assessed as per the area of your home multiplied by the rate of construction per. sq. feet, as on the date of taking the policy. For example, if your home is 1000 sq. feet and the construction rate per sq. feet is ₹800/-, then the sum insured for your home’s building is ₹8,00,000. This excludes land cost. On the other hand, the contents are assessed on the market value of the items. This means if there were a loss, the claim would be paid on the value of purchasing a similar new item, less depreciation for the usage.

I live in a building insured by my society. Would I need to take a separate home insurance policy?

The insurance that your society provides may offer you a limited cover and that generally includes only overall building of the society including common areas. You could consider home content insurance cover for your belongings and betterments done within your house.

Does this policy cover the home building for its market value?

No, the home structure is covered on the basis of re-instatement value. In case of damaged due to any insured event, you will get the costs required for re-instating or replacing the property.

Can the building be covered in a building that is 45 years old?

Yes. We offer cover for buildings under 50 years old.

What is covered under valuables?

Items such as jewellery, silverware, paintings, works of art, antique items, curios and items of similar nature can be covered under valuables.

Is short circuit covered under the policy?

We cover loss or damage to the insured building or contents due to fire arising from a short circuit. However, breakdown of equipment due to short circuit is not covered under the base policy; you can opt for coverage against section 3 (mechanical/electrical breakdown).

If I work out of my home, is my inventory and business property also covered?

The home insurance product is only for residential property only.

Can I go for add-on covers in my policy?

After you enter your details and take a quote on our website, you can choose the add-ons that you want in the policy (at additional premium).

What are the modes of premium payment?

You can choose between the below payment options to pay your home insurance premium online:
  • Credit Card – Make secure premium payment with your VISA, Master, AMEX, RuPay or Diners Club card.
  • Net banking - Transfer the premium amount online through ICICI Bank or any of the other 50+ banks.
  • Debit Card – Just enter your bank’s debit card details to pay your insurance premium directly.
  • UPI and e-wallets - Pay through UPI apps such as Google Pay, BHIM UPI & PhonePe, or an online wallet.
  • EMI - Use the credit/debit card EMI facility to pay your premium in instalments.

What do I do in case of a home insurance claim?

In case of a claim:
  • Call us on 1800 2666, and share your policy details
  • We authenticate the claim request basis the information & documents you share
  • Our surveyor will be onsite within 48 hours
  • The surveyor will submit the Final Survey Report (FSR), along with the documents, within 7 days.
  • We process the claim within 7 days, provided we have received all the documents
  • We send out a letter to you, with the approved settlement amount & discharge voucher
  • We process the payment through NEFT on receiving the signed voucher

What are the documents required for filing a claim?

The documents required for filing a claim are:
  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Policy copy
  • FIR (wherever applicable)
  • Investigation Report by the police (NTR)
  • Invoices of the suppliers for replacement
  • Final Bill of Repairers
  • Invoices of owned articles, if required

What do I do in case of a burglary claim?

In case of a burglary claim, file an FIR and intimate us immediately so that we can begin the claims process. You need to submit the receipt of a copy of the first information report (FIR) to us.

What is the policy start date for home insurance?

The policy start date for home insurance will be 7 days from the online transaction date.

What is the maximum period that I can cover my home for under this policy?

You can cover your home for a maximum period of 5 years under this policy.

What are the exclusions of this policy?

The documents required for filing a claim are:

What if I sell the property during the insured period?

Our home insurance policy is non-transferrable. If you are going to sell the property, you can cancel the policy and we will refund the premium on a pro-rata basis for the balance period.

If three people share an apartment, can each one take a separate home insurance policy?

Yes, for their part of the personal belongings.

How do we get the valuation of our property done?

Contents such as household appliances, furniture, jewellery, personal effects and miscellaneous items are covered on market value. So while insuring your contents, we consider the cost of buying a similar new item. We also deduct an appropriate depreciation on the basis of the age of the item.
