How to file a travel insurance claim?

STEP 1

Log into our IL TakeCare app or website with your registered mobile number.

STEP 2

Select your travel policy and click on “Report Claim”.

STEP 3

Choose your claim category: Medical Expenses, Baggage & Personal Loss, or Others.

STEP 4

Scan and upload the required documents. Don’t forget to fill in your bank details.

STEP 5

Submit and track your claim in real time on the app.

How to file a travel insurance claim?

Documents needed to file a claim

  • Hospitalisation
  • Missed / cancelled flights
  • Lost items
  • Others

I, or a family member, needed hospitalisation during the trip.

To raise a claim under Hospitalisation Expenses for Illness and Injury cover, here is what you will need:

  • Flight tickets or boarding pass
  • Medical records, prescriptions, consultation paper.
  • Invoices or payment receipts
  • Your bank account details where we can send the claim amount (in case you’ve already paid for the treatment)

My flight or train got delayed.

Before filing a claim for Common Carrier Delay, keep these handy:

  • Bank account details where you want to receive the claim amount
  • Flight tickets or boarding pass.
  • Confirmation of delay with reason from airline.

I missed my connecting flight because my earlier one was delayed.

Here is what you will need if you need to raise a claim under Missed Connecting Flight cover:

  • Initial itinerary/schedule of flights.
  • Initial/unused flight ticket with fare.
  • Refund/no-show document issued by airline.
  • New flight ticket with fare.

My checked-in baggage didn’t arrive on time.

Make sure you have these documents ready if you want to file a claim under Delay of Checked In Baggage cover:

  • Bank account details
  • Flight tickets or boarding pass
  • PIR (Property Irregularity Report) - a report issued by the airline when your baggage is delayed or damaged

I lost my baggage or personal items.

Keep these handy for your Loss of Baggage and Personal Effects cover-related claim:

  • Bank account details where we can send the claim amount
  • FIR or police report or police complaint copy.

My baggage got damaged during the journey.

For Damage to Baggage During Transit cover-related claims, just submit the below documents:

  • Photo of the damaged baggage.
  • PIR (Property Irregularity Report) - a report issued by the airline/carrier when your baggage is delayed or damaged.

I lost my passport or international driving license while abroad.

If you lost your passport or international driving licence, make sure you have these ready:

  • Bank account details for reimbursement (NEFT).
  • FIR or police report or police complaint copy.
  • Emergency certificate from overseas embassy.

I had to cancel my trip at the last minute.

You will need to submit these key documents in case you have to raise a claim related to Trip Cancellation:

  • Initial/unused ticket with fare
  • Refund/no show document issued by airline
  • New ticket with fare
  • Bank account details where we can send the claim amount

You also need to submit some supporting documents for us to know why you had to cancel your trip:

  • For medical emergencies, share medical records, prescription, consultation papers.
  • In case a family member or a travelling companion has passed away, submit the official document confirming the passing.
  • If you’ve lost your passport, please share a copy of the FIR or police report.

I had to cut my trip short due to an emergency.

For Trip Interruption & Curtailment related claims, help us with these key documents:

  • Initial/unused ticket with fare.
  • Refund/no-show document issued by airline.
  • New ticket with fare.
  • Bank account details where we can send the claim amount
  • Pre-booked accommodation invoice with refund details or no-show confirmation.

I couldn’t travel because my visa was rejected.

For claims related to Trip Cancellation due to VISA Rejection, you will need to submit these documents:

  • Bank account details where we can send the claim amount.
  • Initial/unused flight ticket with fare details.
  • Initial/unused hotel bookings with cost details.
  • Visa appointment and rejection letter.
  • Refund or no-show document from the airline.
