Symptoms play a critical role in diagnosing a disease. Similarly, metabolic syndrome symptoms are characterised by various signs and risk factors that often occur together. They indicate an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and other health problems, all co-occurring.

What are the Symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome?

Each aspect of this syndrome doesn't have its specific symptoms. Metabolic syndrome signs are based on five conditions. For instance, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol usually do not exhibit any symptoms. Conversely, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and obesity may signal metabolic syndrome.

Individuals with insulin resistance may show signs of acanthosis nigricans, characterised by darkened skin on the back of the neck, in the armpits, and under the breasts. Patients with metabolic syndrome also experience blurred vision, increased thirst (polydipsia), the urge to urinate often - especially at night - and fatigue.

Conclusion

Given the constant changes in the lifestyle of people, health conditions such as metabolic syndrome have become quite common. They often lead to life-threatening diseases such as heart attacks and cancer. Health insurance, therefore, is highly recommended to cover such unforeseen expenses.
