What Are The Different Types Of RTO Forms?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways offers a range of online RTO forms for various purposes:

  • Form 20: Registration application form.
  • Form 21: Sales certificate.
  • Form 23: Registration certificate.
  • Form 24: You must fill out this form to register a motor vehicle.
  • Form 29: Transfer of ownership of a motor vehicle application. 
  • Form 38 A: Inspection report.
  • Form 50: Bill of lading certificate. 
  • Form 51: A certificate of insurance 
  • Form 54: Information report regarding an accident.


Vehicle Registration Process in Bathinda

To register your vehicle in RTO Bathinda, follow these steps:

  1. Pay a visit to RTO Bathinda. Submit the necessary documents and fill in all the required forms. 
  2. Submit a demand draft for the road payment you must pay. 
  3. After this, you will be instructed by the RTO officer to submit all the necessary forms. 
  4. Now, you have to pay the required processing fees.
  5. Once you have confirmed the payment, RTO will allocate a vehicle registration number.
  6. It takes about two to three days to complete. But sometimes, it may take longer.

Did you sell your car? If yes, you will now have to transfer the ownership of the vehicle to the new owner. For this, fill out forms 29 and 30 at the RTO office for transfer of ownership. Now, obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state where the vehicle was registered. Remember to get the NOC from the financer if the vehicle is financed. 

After this, you should get Pollution under Control (PUC) and vehicle insurance certificates. Remember to pay the fees and road taxes without delay. Complete the registration process and confirm the purchase and sale of the vehicle. Also, submit age and address proof documents along with passport-sized photographs. 


Is it compulsory to register your vehicle with the RTO?

India has made it compulsory to register vehicles as soon as they are purchased with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) nearby. The RTO office issues a temporary registration number for your newly purchased vehicle.

The temporary number is valid for one month. Before the expiry of one month, you must purchase a permanent registration number for your vehicle. This permanent number will remain the same until the vehicle is in operation.
