Given below are the steps for the e-auction of fancy registration numbers in Delhi. Step 1: Visit the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and register yourself as a user. You will get a Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN)
Step 2: Pay the registration fee, which is non-refundable in Delhi, and the fancy number reservation fee
Step 3: To block the number, select the number of your choice from the available numbers
Step 4: The registration window for the chosen number will be open for three days, starting from the day of the e-auction. In the subsequent two days, the bidding will be done
Step 5: For categories 1 to 4, you can change the bid in multiples of Rs 10,000. For the last category, you can do the bidding in multiple of Rs 1,000
Step 6: The one who gets the reserved number is informed through SMS and email
Step 7: Within 5 days of the declaration of the allotment, you must deposit the balance amount
Step 8: After the payment of the balance deposit, the allotment letter of the VIP car number will be generated

How long does it take to get the fancy number plate?
To get the fancy number plate for your car or bike, it usually takes five days starting the day of registration. Once you have completed the registration process, the documents are verified. After that, the e-auction starts on the third day. The bidding, however, starts on the fourth day and ends on the fifth day. If your bid is selected and you get the fancy number, then after the payment of the balance amount, the allotment letter is generated. From the day the allotment letter is generated, you will have a window of 90 days to get your car or bike registered with your selected choice number at the RTO.
