Are you troubled with heavy and painful periods? If so, immediately look for a gynaecologist and get yourself diagnosed with adenomyosis.

Now, you would be looking for the adenomyosis definition. Stay with us to learn what adenomyosis means.

What is Adenomyosis?

To understand what adenomyosis means, you need to know about the structure of a uterus. The uterus is a three-layered organ. The innermost layer, whose shedding causes menstruation, is the endometrium. The layer in between is called myometrium, our point of concern. It is the muscular part of the uterus, causing cramps during your periods. The perimetrium is the outermost layer.

Adenomyosis happens when the endometrial tissue that lines the uterus begins to invade the myometrium, the layer over it. Our body, a wise creature, recognises that some cells are in the wrong spot and responds through an inflammatory autoimmune reaction. The result is painful menstruation, and the uterus becomes bulkier.

Conclusion

Health emergencies have a disastrous impact on the patient’s family. Ensure you have health insurance, as it provides coverage against emergency medical assistance, ospitalization, and the expenses incurred during treatment.
