The state of Uttar Pradesh proudly flaunts a beautiful network of roads and highways that are maintained with the help of the state government. These thoroughfares intertwine and connect the state's cities, major districts, and villages. The government collects road taxes for the upkeep of these roads. Hence, like all other vehicles, two-wheeler road tax in UP must be paid.

Road Tax in Uttar Pradesh for Bikes

Let’s understand the road tax structure for two-wheelers in Uttar Pradesh:



  • The bike road tax in Uttar Pradesh is divided into various categories. 
  • A motorbike weighing 90.72  kg will need to pay INR 150. 
  • If a bike costs under INR 2 lakh, the state government levies a tax of 2% of the bike’s value.
  • If the cost is between INR 20,000 and INR 60,000, the taxes are 4% of the vehicle cost. 
  • If the value is between INR 60,000 and 2 lakh, 6% is paid as taxes.
  • A value above INR 2 lakh will attract an 8% bike road tax in Uttar Pradesh.

Conclusion

Thousands of two-wheelers ply on the road of UP and they all contribute to the state revenue by paying road taxes. Further, the Motor Vehicles Act mandates bike insurance for compliance with law and to safeguard the owner and bike.
