Types Of Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is the sensation that arises when we experience concern, tension, or fear, especially regarding events on the horizon or potential future occurrences. When we sense a threat, anxiety is a natural human response that we can feel in our thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences. It's standard for people to experience anxiety occasionally, particularly when navigating through stressful situations or adapting to significant life changes with the potential for a substantial impact. The expression of anxiety varies widely, and meeting specific criteria in your experiences could lead a doctor to diagnose you with a particular anxiety disorder. In this article, we outline the types of anxiety disorders.

Types Of Anxiety Disorders

Listed below are the different types of anxiety disorders:

❖Generalized Anxiety Disorders:

It's about having uncontrollable worries in daily life. With many possible anxiety symptoms, a Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) diagnosis can be broad, making your GAD experiences unique compared to others.

❖Social Anxiety Disorder:

Social anxiety occurs when you feel scared or anxious in social situations, like parties, work, or just talking to people daily. People often call this social phobia.

❖Panic Disorder

It indicates experiencing regular or frequent panic attacks without a clear trigger. When dealing with panic disorder, the constant fear of having another panic attack can be so intense that the fear becomes a trigger for more episodes.

❖Phobias:

A phobia is an extreme fear or anxiety provoked by a specific situation, such as going outdoors or a particular object, like spiders.

❖PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder):

If you face anxiety issues after a traumatic experience, a doctor might say you have PTSD. It could mean having flashbacks or nightmares that make you feel like you're experiencing the fear and anxiety from that tough time.

❖OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder):

This form of anxiety is marked by repetitive thoughts, behaviors, or urges that cannot be dismissed.

❖Health Anxiety:

If you find yourself immersed in obsessions and compulsions tied to illness, like extensively researching symptoms or repeatedly checking for their presence, you may face extreme anxiety.

❖Body Dysmorphic Disorder:

It signifies your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors related to your physical appearance.

❖Perinatal OCD:

Anxiety problems can arise during pregnancy or the first year after giving birth.
