Emerging Destinations in India. : #TravelWorryFree

Neeraj Dev (Ecommerce Business Head, Thomas Cook) answers questions regarding emerging destinations in India

Q: What are some of the emerging holiday destinations and places that people from India are trying to visit and who better to answer than you from Thomas Cook. What are the trends that you are seeing and what kinds of places people like to travel these days?

Ans. First we start with India. Emerging destinations in India…Kashmir has emerged as very strong destination during this summer. Ladakh has been a clear cut winner. And, then you have places like Manali has been super hit this particular year. And of course, you have North-east that also has been an emerging destination. So, I would say compared to the traditional tourist destinations, what we had, what we had seen, I think these are the 3-4 destinations which have emerged and off course the places like Kerala, Goa are 365 days tourist destinations.

And internationally, Indians, by far, I would say 60 to 70% of the Indians still would go for the short haul destinations. When I say short haul, it would mean anything which is 4-5 hours flying time between India and them. So, they would be like Thailand, Dubai which is as good as travelling to a domestic destination because the cost of the airfare is similar. And then you have upcoming destinations like Malaysia, and then you have Mauritius, Maldives - these destinations have also done well. And, in Europe, especially the destinations like Turkey, Greece, they have done very well. And of course, the FIFA world cup, you know that Brazil has also created interest in people’s minds. So, I would say a trip to Latin America, South America, a lot of interest what we have seen in the people.

Indians are travelling everywhere.
