Get 25% Additional Insurance Cover for Wearing Helmet

April 26 2017
Wearing helmet

Do you wear a helmet while riding your two-wheeler? If yes, then it is good news for you. If the answer is no, then here’s an incentive for you to take up the good habit. A private general insurance company recently launched a family floater plan with an attractive add-on for riders who wear helmets while riding their two wheelers.

The feature urges people to ride safely by increasing the sum insured of their family floater health plan by 25% or up to a maximum of ₹ 5 lakh if they wear a helmet while riding a two wheeler. It means that during an unfortunate incident of a road accident, the sum insured on the family floater plan will be hiked by 25%, provided that the rider is wearing a helmet.

This is an excellent move by the insurer that would contribute towards making our roads safer with fewer lives lost. According to data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for 2015, 57 accidents happen every hour and 17 deaths take place on our roads. Of which, two wheelers constitute the highest share in total road accidents with 28.8% in 2015. These statistics will make you appreciate the move even more.

This feature offered by one insurer is certain to be imitated by other general insurers as well. Insurers not only provide affordable coverage to the masses but also play a big role in shaping the society. This feature not only offers an extra benefit to the customers but also give insurance companies a chance to promote a noble cause, which is road safety.
