5. Antilia

This architectural behemoth is home to the richest Indian - Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Ltd. It is located on Altamount Road in the posh South Mumbai area in India. It took 8 years to complete and the Ambanis moved in around September 2011. The house has 27 floors and has a living area of 400,000 sq. ft. The name of the house is inspired from the mythical island of the Atlantic. An army of 600 servants (who all live in the same house!) take care of this house. That translates to roughly a 100 people for every member of the Ambani family! The cost of the house is estimated at $2 billion.

Apart from these, the White House and the Buckingham Palace also feature in the list of most expensive homes, but since they aren't going to come up on the real estate market anytime soon, we've not put them in the list.
