Understand your Health Care Plus insurance policy coverage

Your policy covers:

  • Medical charges that you incur due to an illness or physical injury which, as per the advice of a recognised medical practitioner, requires hospitalisation for a minimum of 24 hours
  • Pre-existing diseases will be covered after your 4th consecutive renewal of the Health Care Plus policy with us

    Hospital expenses, without any sublimits, include:

  • Bed charges / room rent
  • Doctor’s / surgeon’s fees
  • Medicines and surgical supplies
  • Diagnostic tests (blood and radiological)

NOTE:

The Company will indemnify the insured against the above, subject always to the Limit of Indemnity.

The coverage provided under Health ​Care Plus policy is independent of any other group/individual/floater policy held by the insured.

Refer to the Policy Wordings document to understand exactly what all your policy covers, so you can benefit from it better.

Your policy does not cover:

  • Any illness contracted within 30 days of inception date of the policy, except those that are incurred as a result of bodily injury. This exclusion doesn't apply for subsequent renewals with the company without a break
  • For the first 2 years, some diseases like cataract, hernia, stone in the urinary system and others will not be covered, and may be covered after two years depending on the terms and conditions of your policy

Healthcare Plus Policy from ICICI Lombard GIC Ltd. provides you with an adequate and enhanced Sum Insured which comes at a considerably lower premium and takes care of the medical expenses in case they go beyond the coverage limit of the present cover or your affordability limit. What is a health card?

A health card is a card that comes along with the Policy. It is similar to an Identity card. This card will entitle you to avail cashless hospitalisation facility at any of our network hospitals.

What are the benefits of a health card?

A health card mentions the contact details and the contact numbers of the Third Party Administrator (TPA). In case of a medical emergency, you can call on these numbers for queries, clarifications and for seeking any kind of assistance.

What is a deductible?

It is the amount over which Healthcare Plus Policy gets activated. Any claim under the deductible amount will not be reimbursed under this policy.

What is the maximum claim amount that gets covered under a policy which has `8 Lakhs of sum insured and ` 3 Lakhs of deductible?

In this case the claim amount can go up to INR `11 Lakhs. The initial INR `3 Lakhs will be covered by you or the base policy. INR `8 Lakhs over that will be reimbursed under HCP.
In the above case, if your claim is for less than INR `11 Lakhs, say, for example, INR `7 Lakhs, the initial `3 Lakhs deductible will be covered by you or the base policy and the remaining 7-3=`4 Lakhs will be covered by the Healthcare Plus policy. Your Healthcare Plus policy will have 8-4=`4 Lakhs balanced Sum insured that you can use for health claims arising in the balance policy period.

No. Your Healthcare Plus Policy gets triggered when a single claim amount is more than the deductible amount.

What is the claim procedure?

In case of a Cashless hospitalisation, the claim can be of two types:
Planned:
Where the member of the covered family is aware of the hospitalisation 2-3 days in advance. In case of planned hospitalisation, call our 24-hours-toll-free number 1800 2666 for complete assistance. Fax/submit the required documents. E.g. Doctor’s certificate, medical bills etc.
Emergency:

Who is a service provider?

A service provider is a specialised health service provider rendering a variety of services like networking with hospitals, arranging for hospitalisation, claim processing and documentation. Service providers can be a third party or a separate specialised department of the Insurer.     I have requested for cancellation of my 2 health policies 4065/SM/109647138/00/000 and 4065/SM/107830411/00/000. I have received service request number 28122015251 with cancellation ID number as 50120161297 on 5 Jan 2016 stating that policy will be cancelled within next 8 days, however today on 10 Feb 2016 when I called up customer care number, they said policy was not cancelled due to some technical reason. Please clarify how both the policies can be on hold for cancellation and arrange for refund immediately.

The discussion was cool and complete to my satisfaction, except for poor voice quality of mobile phone line. I recommend to give quick reference for www.icicilombard.com for add-on riders so that customer can have quick look on key benefits and additional cost involved. In my case, the accident coverage was recommended, but I could not make the decision because of lack of clarity and insufficient data. I prefer to see all relevant details especially, pros and cons in text before commiting my acceptance.

    The team explained the claim amount in case of Critical Illness rider. Brochure does not mention clearly the "benefit amount" in case of a critical illness. They explained that the benefit amount is equivalent to the sum insured which I feel is good.
