June 06 2012

Uttar Pradesh has become the first Indian state to get an accreditation certificate for Community Health Centres (CHC) from the National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Health Care Providers (NABH), an integral part of the board of Quality Council of India.

The Secretary General for the Quality Council of India, Dr. Girfhar J Gyani awarded the certificate to the hospital last year. Mr. Anant Kumar Mishra, the State Health Minister accepted the honorary certificate in behalf of the hospital.

Mrs. Nita Chaudhary, the Principal Secretary for Health endorsed the proposal of the state for 20 more hospitals during the ceremony. She declared that 3 community health centers will get the same accreditation. The CHCs included Rae Bareli, CHC Lalganj, CHC Lalganj, CHC Sidhaul, Pratapgarh and Sitapur.

The hospitals proposed by Ms. Chaudhary include the district hospitals in various cities of Uttar Pradesh such as Lucknow, Saharanpur, Allahabad, Vrindavan, Bareilly, Kanpur, Varanasi and Bahraich. The best part is that district females of many cities such as Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Muzzaffarnagar, Hardoi, Unnao, Meerut and Allahabad have also been included. The doctors from these hospitals attended the sensitization program.

A research proved that no other state has taken up the CHCs until now albeit Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have also taken the Primary Health Centers (PHC) for certification. This certification of the PHC is quite easy. In case, the manpower increases for the task it will consume less time as compared to the present scenario. CHCs are similar to hospitals in small districts looking forward to get support for more infrastructures.

Ms. Chaudhary on has claimed that the gaps in the hospitals will be soon filled. They are hopeful that Dr. Gyani will support and provide the consultants to employ more efficient hands and fill the gaps as soon as possible.
