What are the Different Types of RTO Forms?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways offers various RTO forms online:

  • Form 20: Application for vehicle registration
  • Form 21: To obtain a sales certificate
  • Form 23: To acquire the registration certificate
  • Form 24: Register a motor vehicle
  • Form 29: Notify transfer of vehicle ownership
  • Form 38 A: Get an inspection report
  • Form 50: For issue of a bill of lading
  • Form 51: To secure a certificate of insurance
  • Form 54: To report an accident


Vehicle Registration Process in Thrissur

To register your vehicle in Thrissur, follow these steps:

  1. Visit your Thrissur RTO office along with your car. Submit the completed forms and all necessary documents.
  2. Pay for the applicable road tax by demand draft.
  3. Follow all instructions given by the RTO officials.
  4. Deposit the processing fees for registration.
  5. Once the processing and verification are done, the RTO will assign a unique vehicle number.

Typically, the process takes 2-3 days to complete. However, there can be sometimes exceptions, and it may take longer.

To obtain the transfer of ownership of a registered vehicle in Thrissur, you must fill out Forms 29 and 30. Next, get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state where the vehicle was registered initially. You must also obtain an NOC from the financer if the vehicle was financed.

After obtaining the NOCs, collect the Pollution Under Control (PUC) and insurance certificates.

You will receive a vehicle registration card when you register your vehicle with the RTO. The number assigned by the RTO will be the permanent registration number. The temporary registration number provided by the dealer is valid for a month. You need to obtain the permanent registration number for your vehicle within this period.
