Rajasthan is the country's largest state in terms of area. To buy a vehicle in Rajasthan, road tax payment is as important as purchasing a car insurance policy or having a valid driving licence. Road tax rates are complicated, mainly because they vary due to certain factors like engine capacity, type of fuel, and vehicle seating capacity.

Are you going to register a new vehicle in Rajasthan? So, how much do you have to pay as road tax? Here is where the Rajasthan road tax calculator comes in handy.

Road Tax Calculator in Rajasthan for Four-Wheelers

All vehicles in Rajasthan should pay road tax to the government. The tax is calculated and collected as per the Rajasthan Motor Vehicles Taxation Act. In Rajasthan, the road tax for a four-wheeler is also calculated based on the engine capacity of the car and the fuel used therein. This tax is a one-time payment, charged as a certain percentage of the car's cost during registration. Here’s how this goes:

  •     Petrol vehicles with an engine capacity not exceeding 80cc – the road tax is 6% of the cost of the vehicle
  •     Diesel vehicles with engine capacity not exceeding 80cc – 8% of the vehicle cost.
  •     Petrol vehicles with 1200cc engine capacity- 9% of the value of the vehicle cost.
  •     Diesel vehicles with 1200cc engines– 11% of the total cost of the vehicle.
  •     Petrol vehicles with an engine capacity greater than 1,200cc – 10% of the price of the vehicle.
  •     Diesel vehicles with engine capacity more than 1,200cc – 12% of the price of the vehicle.

Using an RTO tax calculator in Rajasthan makes it easier to determine the exact tax amount you need to pay, whether you're registering a brand-new car or an older one.

Conclusion

Paying road tax may not be the most exciting part of owning a vehicle, but it’s important. Understanding how the Rajasthan road tax calculator works will help you budget better when registering your new vehicle.

Staying on top of these payments ensures you drive legally and contribute to the state’s road maintenance. Don’t forget that, along with road tax, keeping your car insurance up-to-date is equally crucial for staying on the right side of the law.
