The amount of road tax depends on factors such as car category, model, usage of the vehicle, engine capacity, and more.

Road Tax for Four-Wheelers in Punjab

Car owners can pay the vehicle tax in Punjab online or offline, in cash or as a demand draft. Below are the details about the road tax in Punjab for cars.

Before Amendment:

  • For Seating Capacity up to 4 Seats:

Below 3 Years: ₹1800

Between 3-6 Years: ₹1500

Between 6-9 Years: ₹1200

More than 9 Years: ₹900

  • Sitting Capacity of up to 5 Seats:

Below 3 Years: ₹2100

Between 3 - 6 Years: ₹1650

Between 6-9 Years: ₹1200

More than 9 Years: ₹750

After Amendment:

  • For personal use vehicles, 2% of the total worth of the car is charged.
  • For commercial vehicles, tax rates are based on the type and usage of the vehicle.
