In India, the Health Facility Registry (HFR) is a database of public and private healthcare facilities, including hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacies, and clinics.

It is a core building block under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which aims to digitise India’s healthcare ecosystem.

Registration process on HFR for government facilities

There are multiple ways to register, including:

When a facility is registered under NHRR

Follow these steps to register if the facility is already registered under the National Health Resource Repository (NHRR):

  • Visit https://facility.abdm.gov.in/nhrr and enter the registered number. Submit the OTP to proceed.
  • Some fields would be pre-filled according to the NHRR dataset and the facility manager must fill in the rest, like the details of medical infrastructure.
  • Create a Healthcare Professional ID (HPID) using Aadhaar Card and verify it.
  • Enter your HPID, password and email to generate a user ID.

When a facility is not registered or has a different phone number

If the facility is not present in the data shared by the National Health Authority State Coord team to the state Program Management Unit or the facility phone number has been changed, follow these steps:

  • Visit https://facility.abdm.gov.in/. This link will only function if the facility manager’s phone number matches the NHRR records.
  • If you cannot receive the OTP, create the HPID on https://hspsbx.abdm.gov.in/home.
  • Select the facility manager role and open the ‘search and register’ page to find the facility and pre-populate the NHRR fields.
  • Facilities can be searched using phone number/NHRR ID/facility name and the combination of state and districts.

When registering using the ‘search and register’ option

Onboarding NHRR facilities via ‘search and register’ includes the following steps:

  • Visit https://nhpr.abdm.gov.in/home and log in using HPID or mobile number or register.
  • Select the NHRR dataset in the ‘search and register’ option. Select the facility and fill in the details, and update the location using the map.
  • Select the coordinates and upload a picture of the facility building. If registered in any database, update the Linked ID fields and additional details.

Registration process for private/PPP facilities

The registration process for private/public-private partnership facilities is similar to government facilities.

Benefits of Health Facility Registry (HFR)

The HFR Ayushman has several benefits.

  • The unique ID ensures that the healthcare facility is in the digital healthcare ecosystem.
  • People can make informed decisions by looking for facilities based on preferences.
  • It allows all stakeholders to access digital health records.

Conclusion

Taking care of your health goes beyond medical visits—it includes staying informed and prepared. The HFR is a vital part of the country’s digital healthcare transformation, helping you access reliable medical services with ease. However, being prepared also means securing financial protection. Health insurance plans can cover unexpected medical expenses, including hospitalisations and treatments. For added security, critical illness insurance provides coverage against life-threatening diseases, ensuring peace of mind.
