How to Reach Bhutan by Air/Flight?

Flying is the fastest and most convenient way to travel from India to Bhutan. The only international airport in Bhutan is Paro International Airport. This airport is nestled amidst the Himalayas and offers breathtaking views upon landing.

  • Direct Flights: You can find direct flights to Bhutan from Indian cities like Kolkata, Delhi, and Bagdogra. Other cities like Mumbai and Guwahati also offer connecting flights.

When you reach Paro, you can find means of commuting, either to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, or other places within a short distance from the airport. Also, ensure that travel insurance is arranged before the day of travel.

How to Reach Bhutan by Road?

For those from India, it is also possible to enter Bhutan by land. It is very popular with people who love travelling by car. There are three points to enter Bhutan from India, thus making it very adventurous.

  • Phuentsholing Border: Most travellers favour Phuentsholing, which is situated on the Indo-Bhutan border opposite Jaigaon in West Bengal. People of Indian origin can acquire entry permission here.
  • Other Entry Points: Two regular borders with India are in Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar. They are connected to Indian states very well.

Travelling within Bhutan provides an unusual opportunity to enjoy amazing views of its countryside.

How to Reach Bhutan by Train?
