Russian cabbage soup shchi is a traditional dish that is both nourishing and refreshing. Onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and a variety of spices are used to make it. In addition, meat—typically beef—is added to it. Shchi is a delicious winter dish traditionally eaten with bread.

 

Okroshka

Okroshka is a chilled soup that is consumed primarily in the summertime. It is made with kefir or fermented milk. Along with eggs, potatoes and cucumbers, it also includes tiny chunks of sausage or beef.

 

Caviar

One of the most well-known and costly foods in Russia is caviar. It is a dish prepared from fish eggs. Caviar is highly esteemed particularly when it is prepared from sturgeon eggs. It is typically served with blini which are little crackers. Caviar has a mildly salty flavour.

 

Salad Olivier

Russian salad or salad Olivier is a traditional Russian meal. It is made of little bits of meat or sausage and then mixed with boiling potatoes, carrots, eggs and peas. After that, it is served with mayonnaise.

 

Pirozhki

These are small pastries with savoury or sweet fillings. Meat, potatoes, cabbage, or mushrooms are examples of savoury fillings. While fruit jam or cheese is used to fill sweet pirozhki. Served as street food, this dish is consumed in all parts of Russia.

 

Medovik

It is a classic Russian honey cake with multiple layers. It tastes sweet and slightly sour because it contains honey and sour cream.
