Different Types of Japan Visas for Indians

Depending on the reason for the visit, Japan grants various visas to Indian citizens. Listed below are the common Japan visa types that Indians may apply for:

Tourist Visa

The tourist visa is suitable for anyone who may desire to visit Japan for a short period where the trip cannot exceed 90 days. You can go and see the usual tourist attractions and taste the Japanese elements, but you cannot get a job there. This is the most applied of the Japan visa categories.

Business Visa

If you intend to visit Japan for business, such as for a meeting or business-related conference, it is recommended that you apply for a business visa. These are usually given for a specified or limited time and do not imply permanent employment in an organisation.

Work Visa

There are different type of working visa in Japan depending on the job offer you are given. Some common Japan work visa types include:

  • Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services: It mainly targets the general employees in IT, Engineering, or marketing departments.
  • Skilled Labour Visa: This one is for people who have specialised jobs, such as chefs or artisans.
  • Intra-company Transferee Visa: This is for employees who relocate from a Japanese company’s office in India to its Japan office.

Student Visa

The student visa enables Indian students going to study in Japan to register in Japanese schools or universities for longer programs.
