Kuwait Visa Guide: Eligibility, Documents & Process for Indians

Why is Kuwait Visa Needed?

All individuals who wish to visit Kuwait needs a Visa except for the citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The Kuwait Visit Visa needs to be sponsored by a relative staying in Kuwait, a Kuwaiti Company, or by a foreign resident of Kuwait. The validity of Kuwait Visit Visas is up to 90 days, i.e., three months. It means that any visitor can stay up to 90 days in Kuwait with a Kuwait Tourist Visa. You can either choose to extend your Kuwait tourist visa online/ offline or you can re-apply for Kuwait visa. For re-applying, you can take a one-day long trip to nearby places and exit Kuwait for a day and re-apply for a new one. Indian citizens who hold a GCC resident card can enter Kuwait with a travel Visa. In the year 2016, the Kuwaiti government launched an online medium to avail Visa known as the e-Visa. To enter Kuwait, it is mandatory to provide the approved Visa reference number/ GCC resident document and passport upon arrival.

Kuwait Visa Eligibility

  • You must possess an Indian passport to travel from India to Kuwait with a minimum of 6 months validity from the entry date in Kuwait. Also, you need to make sure that the passport is carried along with you wherever you go in Kuwait.
  • If you have a GCC permit, you should make sure that it has a validity of a minimum of 6 months from the entry date in Kuwait.
  • If you have an e-Visa, you should make sure to carry it along with you throughout your stay in Kuwait.
  • You will need to provide the e-Visa reference number when entering Kuwait.
  • Applicants with GCC permit might have to pay 3KD (Rs. 703. 51) at the point of entry along with the GCC resident number.
  • If you apply for a Kuwait Visa and do not travel to Kuwait for 30 days, your Visa shall expire.
  • The e-Visa is applicable only for tourists and due to this reason, you are not allowed to work during the 90 days with a Kuwait e-Visa. Also, you need to know that the e-Visa is valid only for a single entry and exit to Kuwait. It means that even if you did not complete your 90 days stay after entering Kuwait and you exit, you would have to apply for Kuwait visa online for the second entry.
  • Generally, you do not require a vaccination certificate to enter Kuwait. But, if you travel from a region infected by viral diseases such as Cholera or Yellow Fever, a Vaccination certificate becomes mandatory. Such documents act as proof that you are healthy and that you would not spread any diseases to the residents of Kuwait. Also, in some cases, you might need to go through a medical checkup before availing your Visa to Kuwait.
  • Kuwait Work Visa will require a copy of the employee's passport as well as a No Objection Certificate from the General Administration of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior.

 

Kuwait Visa Document Requirements

Step 1

Submit a duly filled application form. The application form will require details like passport details, personal details, and the details of your trip to Kuwait.

Step 2

You will need to provide a biometric page of your passport and other necessary documents.

Step 3

You will receive your e-Visa in your email ID. You need to take a print out of the same and get it stamped on the date of entry in Kuwait.

Process for Different Types of Visas

Process for Dependent Visa for Kuwait

  • You need to visit the “jawazaat” bureau located in Shuwaikh.
  • You need to fill the application form in Arabic. If you are not well-versed with Arabic, you can choose to hire a bilingual typist to help you for the same. Along with the application form, you will have to provide some documents like copy of the dependent's passport, civil ID, salary certificate, marriage certificate from the country of origin, and other necessary documents. Upon reaching Kuwait, the dependents will have to go through a medical checkup and will need to provide their fingerprints. The sponsor will need to provide a declaration stating that he/she will look after and take care of the dependent.

How to check the status of Kuwait Visa

Once you submit the application form as well as the necessary documents, you will receive all the notifications regarding the e-Visa through your email ID. Generally, the e-Visa is processed within one business day. You must know that in Kuwait Visa shall not be provided on weekends, i.e., Friday and Saturday and public holidays. What is Kuwait Tourist Visa?

The Kuwait Tourist Visa can be availed online that allows you to visit and travel in Kuwait for touristic purposes. The approximate processing time for a Kuwait e-Visa ranges from 1 business day to 3 business days excluding weekends (Friday and Saturday) and public holiday. Once the submission is approved, all the details regarding your e-Visa are provided to your email ID. Due to this reason, it is mandatory for you to have a valid email ID along with a valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of entry in Kuwait.

Duration of Kuwait Tourist Visa

Types of Kuwait Visa

There are several types of Visit Visas issued by the Kuwait Embassy depending on the duration of the stay and the number of entries; they are:

Kuwait Tourist Visit Visa

The tourist visit Visa is issued for foreigners to leisure travel in Kuwait. No business or work shall be allowed during this period.

Kuwait Business Visit Visa

In case you want to visit Kuwait for business purposes, you can avail the Business Visit Visa. In such cases, the hotel in which you have planned to stay can sponsor for your Visa.

Kuwait Family Visit Visa

Immediate family members of residents of Kuwait can visit Kuwait with the Family Visit Visa. All you have to provide would be proof of a relationship with the residents of Kuwait for the same.

Kuwait Multiple Entry Visa

If you have a multiple entry Visa, you are eligible to enter Kuwait multiple times within a one-year duration. Such Visas are useful for people who have to visit Kuwait for business purposes regularly. American nationals are eligible to visit Kuwait with a Multiple Entry Visa with a validity of 10 years with an unlimited number of entries. Other citizens will need a sponsor in the Ministry of Defence in order to avail this type of Visa.

Student Visa for Kuwait

If you wish to attain higher education from a university in Kuwait, you can be eligible for the same with a student Visa for Kuwait.

Kuwait Marriage Visa

With a proven relationship with a resident or national of Kuwait, you can get the Kuwait Marriage Visa before marrying or going to a civil relationship with a resident of Kuwait.

Kuwait Temporary Worker Visa

If you wish to work in Kuwait for a short period can avail this type of Visa to be eligible to work in Kuwait.

Kuwaiti Transit Visa

The Kuwaiti Transit Visa is applicable for people who transit through the Kuwait Airport to reach the third destination. Usually, the validity of a Kuwaiti Transit Visa ranges from 3 days to 7 days. You can avail the Transit Visa from the Kuwait Consulate in India or the port of entry in Kuwait. However, you will have to note that you have a valid Visa and a confirmed ticket for the third destination. Also, if you do not make use of the transit Visa for seven days, it will automatically expire, and you will have to take a new one.

Kuwait Residence Visa

If you are not a GCC citizen and you wish to live in Kuwait, you will need a Kuwait Residence Visa which is known as Iqama. There are three types of Kuwait Residence Visa, Domestic Visa, Work Visa, and Dependent Visa. All three Visas require a sponsor. With a Dependent Visa, if you live in Kuwait and are employed, you can bring your spouse as well as your children to live with you. However, you will need a minimum earning of 450 KD (Rs. 1,05,237.35) per month in case of 17-Visa and case of 18-Visa, you must earn at least 650 KD (Rs. 1,52,009.51). In case you and your spouse work in Kuwait, you can sponsor your child provided your combined salary is more than 350 KD (Rs. 81,874.33). There are few limitations such as you a wife cannot sponsor her husband, you can sponsor your parents and adult daughters but sons above 21 years cannot be sponsored. Dependent family members are not eligible to work in Kuwait without a Kuwait Work Visa.

Kuwait Work Visa

The Kuwait Work Visa is issued for private and public sector employees as per the articles 17 and 18 of the Immigration Regulations. The sponsor needs to apply for the Work Visa from the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labour in Kuwait.

Kuwait Domestic Servants Visa

Such Visas are issued for the servants of the resident expatriate provided he/she is a full-time servant and ages between 20 and 50 years. However, the resident needs to sponsor for the servant's Visa. This kind of Visa shall not be valid for immediate relatives of the resident. You will be required to provide some documents such as the salary statement of you and your spouse if you are the sponsor for the servant, copy of the housing agreement, copy of the passport of sponsor and wife, copy of civil ID of the sponsor and wife, copy of servant's passport, 8 passport-sized photographs, and copy of servant's work contract.

Kuwait Entrance Visa

The Kuwait Entrance Visa allows the government as well as civil sector employees to issue Visas for the joining employees. The fees to avail this Visa are 30 KD (Rs. 7,016.43).
