Route 1: Jaipur - Jobner - Kuchaman – Nagaur Rd via NH11
This route for the Jaipur to Jaisalmer journey is a driving distance of 560 kilometres. It takes close to 10 hours by this route.
Route 2: Jaipur - Ajmer – Jodhpur – Jaisalmer via NH 48 and NH 45
This route takes a little over 10 hours.
What To Eat And Stopovers
One staple dish in Rajasthan is Dal baati churma - state's classic signature dish, which is available in restaurants and also is a famous street food.
Another dish commonly available is Gatte ki subzi. And the last but the most scrumptious is pyaaz kachori.
You may consider the first halt at Nagaur and satisfy your palate for Rajasthani cuisine at Rajbhog restaurant. You cannot miss the Rajasthani thali there. Another highly recommended halt is in Pushkar. It is engulfed with mountains and in between is the picturesque Pushkar Lake. The top of all the highlights is the most renowned temple of all, the Brahmaji Temple dating back to the 14th century. It is the finest existence of Hindu architecture.

Jaisalmer, the Golden city is distinguished by yellow sandstone architecture.
- This city’s skyline is dominated by a sprawling desert fort, the Jaisalmer fort. It is amongst the very few ‘living forts’ as even now some of the city’s population lives inside the fort.
- The other magnificent place here is Patwon ki Haveli. It used to be a series of 1800s palaces, but now a museum not worth missing. It features intricate carvings, furniture & artwork. It is the first ever haveli erected in Jaisalmer.
