The most common causes of ectopic pregnancy often involve conditions that block the egg’s movement down the fallopian tube. This can occur due to inflammation or scar tissue.

Let’s explore other reasons for ectopic pregnancy.

What Causes Ectopic Pregnancy?

Also known as tubal pregnancy, ectopic is a type of pregnancy at fallopian tube.

Another primary reason for tubal pregnancy is when you have a growth blocking your fallopian tube or if the organ is irregularly shaped. The following can also increase your risk:

  • Previous ectopic pregnancy
  • A history of infections that caused scar tissue
  • Previous pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Endometriosis
  • Surgery on fallopian tubes
  • Conceiving with an IUD
  • A history of in vitro fertilisation (IVF)

Conclusion

If unchecked, this condition can become a ruptured tubal pregnancy. If you’re at high risk for such a case, ensure you have health insurance that can help cover your healthcare and treatment costs. You can also cover expenses related to pregnancy childbirth with the help of a  good maternity health insurance plan.
