Many people dream of travelling to the UK. However, before you start packing your bags, you need to understand visa requirements. Most Indians visiting the UK often ask about whether there’s a UK visa on arrival for Indian citizens. This post explains the visa details and tips on how to get ready for your travel from India to the UK.

UK Visa on Arrival for Indian Citizens

Indians are not currently offered a UK visa on arrival. Instead, they must apply for a visa before travelling to the UK, unlike in some countries where visas are issued at the port of entry. Tourism, business, or medical purposes require the most common visa type, the Standard Visitor’s Visa.

There are just a few steps to applying for a UK visa: fill out an online application form at the UK government website. Then, book an appointment at one of the Visa Application Centres.

During this appointment, you will be required to present your documents and provide your biometric details, such as fingerprints and photos. Your application will then be processed, and a decision will be emailed to you.

Visa processing normally takes about 15 working days, though applying much earlier before your journey begins is advisable. A valid travel insurance policy is also recommended because it comes in handy during emergencies.

Right now, there’s no option, such as a UK visa on arrival for Indians wishing to come to the UK.  However, carefully following the guidelines can ensure a smooth visa application process.

Conclusion

If you intend to visit the United Kingdom, you should ensure you have applied for a visa before your arrival in the UK from India. Therefore, applying early, ensuring you have the correct papers, and getting a single trip travel insurance policy to cover your journey are advisable.
