You'll Love it in Bangladesh

At ICICI Lombard, we are always beside you and our International Travel Insurance allows you to travel anywhere, anytime, with peace of mind. Travelling should be a time for relaxation, discovering new places, trying exotic cuisines and capturing ever-lasting memories. But, when things go wrong far away from home, you may feel helpless. Not with an ICICI Lombard Travel Insurance.

The amazing tiger safari in the mangrove swamps of the Sundarbans and a white knuckled rickshaw ride on the crazy streets of Dhaka attracts millions of tourists to Bangladesh every year. Often underestimated by Indians as a tourist destination, Bangladesh has a lot to offer.

The cool turquoise waters of China Clay Hills, the fantasising ruins of Muktagacha Rajbari and the floating rice market are worth a visit. Despite several other beautiful outdoor locations, the Royal Bengal Tiger of the Sundarbans remains the centre of attraction of almost every tourist that visits Bangladesh.

While the tigers in the Sundarbans may not harm you, things could sometimes go wrong. Though medical emergency costs in Bangladesh may not be as high as in western countries, but they definitely pose a potential threat to a delightful trip. Be it luggage loss, travel delays or the need for emergency medical attention, you are always in caring hands with ICICI Lombard.

Things to Do in Bangladesh

  • Sundarbans

If you are planning to visit Bangladesh, then Sundarbans has to be on the top of your list. Spread across approximately 10,000 square kilometres, Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

An enormous network of interconnected waterways and a wild terrain makes it look haunting at times. A 3-4 day boat trip into the heart of the magnificent Sundarbans is the major highlight of any trip to Bangladesh.

  • Dhaka

The bustling capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka is home to more than 17 million people. It is extremely chaotic and full of energy. A reflection of Mughal and British Empires in its monuments, the true essence of Dhaka can only be felt on a colourful rickshaw ride through the streets of Dhaka.

Here, you can visit the Sadarghat and witness the lifeline of the city, the Buriganga River that flows like an artery through the heart of Old Dhaka. To escape from the hustle and bustle of Dhaka, you can visit the Lalbagh Fort, an incomplete yet serene fort built during the time of Mohammed Azam, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's third son.

Apart from these, you can also visit Liberation War Museum, Ahsan Manzil, National Assembly Building, Bara Katra, Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, National Museum, Star Mosque and Botanical Gardens during your stay in Dhaka.

  • Srimangal and Around

Srimangal and the surrounding regions are covered in dense forest sanctuaries and tea plantations on rolling hills, and inhabited by the local villagers. An idyllic town that is pleasant and worth visiting!

Lowacherra National Park and Satchari National Park are the closest national parks and Dolubari, the closest Tripuran village in the region. There are beautiful tea estates in the region including the Finlays Tea Estate, Zareen Tea Estate and Bangladesh Tea Research Institute that are simply breath taking.

2 years ago, we visited Bangladesh to see the finals of T20 World Cup and cheer for India. Unfortunately, India lost the match and even we lost our luggage while returning. But thanks to ICICI Lombard's travel insurance we got reimbursement for the possessions lost.

I visited Dhaka a year ago. Sadly, I fell from the rickshaw and nearly fractured my hand. I was admitted to a local hospital. Thanks to ICICI Lombard's travel insurance, I did not have to pay the hospital bill. I would strongly recommend it to others.
