90% Employees Will Take up Yoga with Proper Encouragement: Survey

June 21 2016
Encouragement needed for yoga

A survey conducted by ICICI Lombard found that organisations are not doing enough to encourage the practice of yoga amongst its employees.

In the survey, about 51% of the 1300 respondents surveyed across 30 cities stated that regular yoga classes are not conducted by their organisations nor is there encouragement for the same.

The ICICI Lombard survey conducted in the age range of 22-45 years has also found out that about 90% of the respondents need a push in the right direction from their organisations to take up yoga seriously.

About 68% of the respondents believed that yoga as an art is helpful for the millennial generation as well. However, 32% associated practising yoga with the ‘older generation’.

The Chief-Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd., Mr. Sanjay Datta, has applauded the government’s effort to popularise yoga internationally. He also mentioned the commitment by ICICI Lombard to encourage the practice amongst its employees and including the art as part of insurance solutions.

Recognising that yoga has preventive healthcare qualities, ICICI Lombard has added the practice as an add on-cover to its regular health insurance policy. Costs incurred for yoga sessions will be reimbursed considering it as a form of preventive healthcare tool.
