Things to Do in Iceland

Iceland is filled with endless surprises; here is a list of fun things to do in Iceland:

  • Go Hiking

For someone who loves hiking, the Laugavegur trail is a must-visit. The colourful mountains, hot springs and glaciers make it one of the most popular hiking trails explored by travellers worldwide. Stretching between Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk, the best time to visit is during summer. Its mesmerising landscapes, long winding rivers and pristine lakes will leave you awe-struck.

  • Ride the Icelandic Horse

Exploring the mountains and embracing the beauty of nature is a way of life for the locals. Summer and autumn are the times when locals gear up with their walking boots and are also accompanied by numerous tourists who share the same love for nature. The most popular attractions amongst tourists are Preikestolen, Bessegen, Galdhopiggen and Romsdalshornet.

  • Revel in the Geothermal Spas and Pools

Cycling in Norway is challenging because of the mountainous terrain, but even if the roads won't take your breath away, the scenery will. Try the Kystriksveien Coastal Road, Lofoten or Vesteralen islands, Rallarvegen (The Navvy Road) or the ten national cycling routes.

  • Follow the Whale

Even the Guardian once wrote, “Norway – where Cod is God”. With cold and clear waters and sustainable environment, the Norwegian seas have abundant stocks of cods and many other fish. Enjoy fishing under the midnight sun during balmy summers or freezing winters.

  • Marvel at Nature's Light Show

The best way to get up close and personal with Norwegian fjords is through canoes and kayaks. Carry a tent, camping stove and fishing net along with your canoe and enjoy the inland lakes and rivers.

A range of green or purple streaks appears in the sky creating an illusion of a light show. Do not miss this one-of-a-kind magical event if you are in Iceland.

A family trip to Iceland was like a dream come true! My wife, children and parents were all excited. A week of hiking, horse riding and swimming, it was too much fun. But when Amma got sick, ICICI Lombard travel insurance policy became our saviour. Amma got the best medical treatment and recovered in a week! All additional expenses were also covered! I honestly can't thank ICICI Lombard enough.
