Why is Kuwait Visa Needed?
All individuals who wish to visit Kuwait needs a Visa except for the citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The Kuwait Visit Visa needs to be sponsored by a relative staying in Kuwait, a Kuwaiti Company, or by a foreign resident of Kuwait. The validity of Kuwait Visit Visas is up to 90 days, i.e., three months. It means that any visitor can stay up to 90 days in Kuwait with a Kuwait Tourist Visa. You can either choose to extend your Kuwait tourist visa online/ offline or you can re-apply for Kuwait visa. For re-applying, you can take a one-day long trip to nearby places and exit Kuwait for a day and re-apply for a new one. Indian citizens who hold a GCC resident card can enter Kuwait with a travel Visa. In the year 2016, the Kuwaiti government launched an online medium to avail Visa known as the e-Visa. To enter Kuwait, it is mandatory to provide the approved Visa reference number/ GCC resident document and passport upon arrival.
Kuwait Visa Eligibility
- You must possess an Indian passport to travel from India to Kuwait with a minimum of 6 months validity from the entry date in Kuwait. Also, you need to make sure that the passport is carried along with you wherever you go in Kuwait.
- If you have a GCC permit, you should make sure that it has a validity of a minimum of 6 months from the entry date in Kuwait.
- If you have an e-Visa, you should make sure to carry it along with you throughout your stay in Kuwait.
- You will need to provide the e-Visa reference number when entering Kuwait.
- Applicants with GCC permit might have to pay 3KD (Rs. 703. 51) at the point of entry along with the GCC resident number.
- If you apply for a Kuwait Visa and do not travel to Kuwait for 30 days, your Visa shall expire.
- The e-Visa is applicable only for tourists and due to this reason, you are not allowed to work during the 90 days with a Kuwait e-Visa. Also, you need to know that the e-Visa is valid only for a single entry and exit to Kuwait. It means that even if you did not complete your 90 days stay after entering Kuwait and you exit, you would have to apply for Kuwait visa online for the second entry.
- Generally, you do not require a vaccination certificate to enter Kuwait. But, if you travel from a region infected by viral diseases such as Cholera or Yellow Fever, a Vaccination certificate becomes mandatory. Such documents act as proof that you are healthy and that you would not spread any diseases to the residents of Kuwait. Also, in some cases, you might need to go through a medical checkup before availing your Visa to Kuwait.
- Kuwait Work Visa will require a copy of the employee's passport as well as a No Objection Certificate from the General Administration of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior.

- You need to visit the “jawazaat” bureau located in Shuwaikh.
- You need to fill the application form in Arabic. If you are not well-versed with Arabic, you can choose to hire a bilingual typist to help you for the same. Along with the application form, you will have to provide some documents like copy of the dependent's passport, civil ID, salary certificate, marriage certificate from the country of origin, and other necessary documents. Upon reaching Kuwait, the dependents will have to go through a medical checkup and will need to provide their fingerprints. The sponsor will need to provide a declaration stating that he/she will look after and take care of the dependent.

How to check the status of Kuwait Visa
Once you submit the application form as well as the necessary documents, you will receive all the notifications regarding the e-Visa through your email ID. Generally, the e-Visa is processed within one business day. You must know that in Kuwait Visa shall not be provided on weekends, i.e., Friday and Saturday and public holidays.
