Taiwan Visa Guide: Eligibility, Documents & Process for Indians

Overview

VISA is the acronym for Visitor Intended Stay Abroad is the acronym. Visa is an important document for both travelers as well as the hosting country. More than 95 percent of the countries around the world require visa. Application Process

The government of Taiwan provides visa for foreigners who wish to fly to Taiwan. Taiwan visa can be obtained by logging in to https://www.taiwanvisagov.com. The following steps can be performed to apply for Taiwan e visa:

  • Enter your personal details including your name, address, passport number, date of birth, flight details, date of arrival, airport of arrival and nationality. The details mentioned in the online application should match with your passport.
  • Free transfer can be done by using credit/debit card or even by net-banking. After payment completion, a confirmation mail will be sent to your registered mail ID to complete the application process.
  • Download and print the e visa. Your passport and e visa have to be presented for checks at the airport immigration.

The application for Taiwan e visa isn’t much complicated. Basically there are 2 steps that the applicant needs to complete. First step is about your basic details such as name, phone number, email ID, passport number, birth certificate and so on. After entering these details, you need to choose the processing time. The price varies based on the processing time. The price for regular application comes around Rs 3000 and it takes a processing time of 3-5 days. When you want to apply on a rush basis, the cost will be Rs 3000 plus an additional charge of Rs 1500.

The next is about payment. You can make use of credit/debit card, net-banking or even you can use Paypal as well to settle the e visa payment. Once you enter your credentials, you can submit and your visa will come to your registered mail ID in the chosen time frame. You should take a print of your Taiwan e visa while travelling as it is necessary to produce it at the airport check-in and immigration.

You can apply for Taiwan e visa if you wish to do sightseeing, business meeting or if you need to meet any relatives or you want to attend a meeting or participate in any sports event. Taiwan e visa is valid for 90 days and the applicant can stay in Taiwan for upto 30 days, provided he/she adheres to the single entry circumstance that it grants. Employment visa:

  • Invitation from the host foreign company.

Business visa:

  • Proof of financial status and also the proof for the years of expertise for the intended business.
  • Introduction letter issued by the native entity.
  • Invitation letter issued by the foreign company.
  • Certificate of incorporation.

Project visa:

  • Letter issued by the company regarding the contract.
  • Letter from the native employer about the project to be abroad.
  • Certificate of incorporation of the foreign company.
  • A valid passport with 6 months validity.

Entry “X” visa:

  • Marriage and birth certificate.
  • Invitation and personal request letter.
  • A valid passport with 6 months validity.

Tourist visa:

  • Return ticket and financial standing to prove that sufficient amount of money is there with the traveler to take care of his own expenses till the end of the trip.

The Taiwan government has given 23 countries the right to apply for Taiwan visa. Before you think of applying for Taiwan e visa, you should make sure that you are eligible to obtain Taiwan visa. That can be checked by logging in to www.ivisa.com. On the column that says ‘choose country’, enter your nationality and enter Taiwan in the column that says ‘destination.’

Documents Required for Taiwan e visa

Non-residents:

A US passport holder who wishes to enter Taiwan for a short-term visit (less than 90 days) does not require a visa. Extension of stay is not permitted beyond the intended period of stay in the country. The US passport must be valid throughout the stay in Taiwan and the traveler must hold a return ticket as well. To stay beyond 90 days for any purpose such as work, or join family, visa extension has to be done by the traveler before entering Taiwan.

Residents:

Resident visas are generally issued to those who holds a valid work permit or who are married to a citizen of Taiwan. When applying for Taiwan resident visa, applicant should submit official letter or supporting documents from any government authority of Taiwan. A resident visa does not give permission to work. To work in Taiwan, the applicant should have both resident as well as work visa.

Common Documents:

  • Original passport that is valid for 6 months from the date of travel and also need to attach old passport (if any).
  • 2 passport size photos (35x45) without border.
  • Online e visa application form.
  • Covering letter with traveler and trip details.
  • Proof of hotel booking. Hotel will send a fax to the Taiwan embassy.
  • Complete tour itinerary.
  • Flight tickets.
  • Bank statement with bank’s seal. Sufficient balance should be available in the account.
  • Salary slips for the last 6 months with the company’s seal and signature.

Tourist visa:

  • The applicant should hold a valid passport that is valid for 6 months from the time of application.
  • Xerox copies of the applicants passport.
  • The visa form will be available online and that has to be filled and signed by the applicant.
  • 2 passport size photos (35x45) with white background.
  • Confirmed to and fro flight tickets.
  • Visa request letter from the travel agency in India or Taiwan with detailed itinerary, proof of payment and invitation letter from sponsor in Taiwan.
  • A covering letter from the applicant that mentions the purpose of his/her visit and duration of stay.
  • Personal financial proofs such as form16 for 3 years, ITR for 3 years and bank account statement with bank’s seal and authorized signature.
  • Hotel confirmation for the period of stay.
  • Visa is valid for 3 months with a maximum stay up to 60 days from the date of entry.
  • Average visa processing time is 3-5 days and if the applicant wish to obtain it in 1 day, he/she can apply on rush basis.

Business Visa:

  • The applicant should hold a passport that is valid for 6 months from the time of application and also should provide both old and new passports.
  • The visa form will be available online and that has to be filled and signed by the applicant.
  • 2 passport size photos (35x45) with white background that have been taken within the last 6 months.
  • A covering letter from the applicant that mentions the purpose of his/her visit and intended duration of stay, along with designation of the visitor.
  • An invitation should come by fax from the company sponsoring the job and its fax number should be mentioned in the invitation. Travel date of the applicant should also be mentioned in the fax. The invitation should be signed manually as the signature in the form of stamp is not allowed.
  • Registration certificate of the company.
  • Proof of transaction. Eg: remittance receipt, company’s account details, etc.
  • Copies of income tax returns and salary slips for the past 6 months.
  • Details of the contact person in Taiwan.
  • Original bank statements for the past 3 months. Bank’s seal and authorized signature should be there in every pages of the statement.
  • Confirmed to and fro flight tickets and confirmation of hotel booking.

Types of Travel Visas

  • Tourist visa: Tourist visa, as the name suggests; is a visa issued to the ones who wish to enter a particular country for sightseeing and other leisure activities. This type of visa cannot be converted into a residence or employment visa within that particular country.

Taiwan Visa Guide for US Passport Holders

Documents Requirements:

  • Passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of travel.

Taiwan Visa Application Form

You should take a clear print of the application form. Blurred or illegible prints will not be accepted. It must be printed in black ink on a white paper. The paper must be 8 ½ by 11 inches, and there should not be any holes or perforations on any sides of the paper. Thermal paper, special inkjet paper or any other shiny type of papers are not accepted.

  • Cosmetic surgery, unless such cosmetic surgery is rendered medically necessary as part of treatment for accidents and burns whilst being abroad.
  • Suicide, attempted or wilfully self inflicted injury or illness, mental disorder, anxiety, stress or depression, venereal disease, alcoholism, drunkenness or the abuse of drugs, or any loss arising, directly or indirectly, from any injury, illness, death, loss, expense, or other liability attributable to HIV and/or any HIV related illness including AIDS and/or any mutant derivative or variation thereof however caused.
  • Treatment which could be reasonably delayed until the Insured’s return to India, which will be decided jointly by the treating Physician and the Emergency Assistance Service Provider and shall be in accordance with accepted standards of medical care.
  • The Insured taking part in naval, military or air force operations; war and nuclear perils.
  • Insured engaging in air travel unless he or she flies as a Fare Paying passenger in an aircraft licensed to carry passengers.
  • Participation of the Insured in winter sports, mountaineering and such other professional sports or any other hazardous or potentially dangerous sport for which the Insured members are adequately trained, physically fit and using proper equipment. and that too only if specifically agreed and mentioned in the policy schedule.
  • Hazardous occupation, or if engaged in any criminal or illegal act.
  • Medical Expenses in respect of Experimental, investigational or unproven treatments or treatments which are not consistent with or incidental to the diagnosis and treatment of the positive existence or presence of any Illness for which confinement is required at a Hospital. Any Illness or treatment which is a result or a consequence of undergoing such experimental or unproven treatment.
  • Naturopathy treatment.
  • Non Allopathic treatment e.g. - Ayurvedic, Yogic, Homeopathic, Unani treatment(s).
