The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced that all the 227 athletes who will represent India in the upcoming Commonwealth Games will be provided an insurance cover of ₹50 lakh. The games would be held between April 4 to April 15, 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia.
IOA confirmed a leading insurance company as the sponsor of the Indian contingent for 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Apart from insurance, Raymond has been named as the official styling partner, and Shiv Naresh as official sports apparel partner of Indian contingent to the upcoming CWG, Asian Games and the Olympics. The official ceremonial attire and sports attire for athletes during the CWG was also revealed by sports minister Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
Announcing the partnerships, IOA President Narinder Dhruv Batra said these associations have come at a crucial juncture for Indian sports and this partnership will be a boon for the athletes preparing for the 2020 Olympic games.
The President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Rashesh Shah urged more private institutions to come forward to support organizations like IOA and help in developing a comprehensive sports framework in the country.
